    Android and ALSA

'Evening everyone,   Recently, I've come across some articles (most of which were sporadic hits from Google) about Android using ALSA.  While ALSA isn't the best-documented feature Linux has to offer, I've found even less information about it on Android.  I recently installed alsamixer on my...

    Linux gapless playback

Quote:   Neither clementine nor foobxnis support gapless playback.  Guayadeque has the option, but the interface is really bloated and it only picked up on like five artists out of the 150 or so on my netbook :\  Maybe I'll just pick up java over the summer and make my own lol.

    Linux gapless playback

hey guys,   On Windows, I am a huge fan of foobar2000.  Most of the reason why I can't get myself to make a full switch to linux is because I haven't yet found a music player that's on-par with it.   I've been trying out differrent linux music players lately.  I've used DeaDBeeF for...

    [SOLVED] Replacing a headphone plug

Quote:   Well, soldered all the wires on, and the 'phones are essentially working.  However, when I turn on the noise-cancelling switch, every now and then, there'll be this low noise (reminds me of a muffled burp).  I did some research, and I'm assuming its a ground issue.  Anyone...

    [SOLVED] Replacing a headphone plug

Quote:   Quote:   Sorry it's been awhile since my last post.  I ended up ordering a Neutrik 3.5mm plug (NTP3RC-B), which just arrived today.  With the help of some electrical tape, I connected the wires to the plug to make sure everything works properly, and it does :D  So, now on...

    [SOLVED] Replacing a headphone plug

Quote:   They're a pair of Sony MDR-NC7's.  Since they're noise-canceling, will that make any difference as to what kind of replacement plug I should look for? (I assume it won't be, just thought I'd ask)   Quote: Haha, I kept saying "jack" instead of "plug."

    [SOLVED] Replacing a headphone plug

Quote: Thanks for the heads-up on the terminology ^_^  Just to be clear, are you recommending just re-soldering the wires inside the original plug, or soldering a new plug?  I was looking at those Neutriks and they seem pretty legit.

    [SOLVED] Replacing a headphone plug

I can upload a picture after I get off work; but, the metal part basically...slipped out of the plastic part.  You can see the wires that are keeping the metal part attached to the wire, and they're a little freyed.  No sound is coming out of the left driver.

    [SOLVED] Replacing a headphone plug

Given the standards of the average head-fi user, I feel like this question is going to piss off a lot of the audiophiles on this board, so my apologies in advance.   A friend of mine had a headphone plug break on her Sony headphones, and I bet her that I could find a way to fix it.  I was...

    Convert closed-back headphones to open-back

I've had a pair of HD202's for awhile, and after running across the EH 350s, I started entertaining the idea of converting mine to open back.  I couldn't find a whole lot related to this idea on the net, so I figured I'd just ask.  Is converting [any set of] headphones to open-back a bad idea?

    About the Sennheiser HD202

I've owned these for about half a year, and [for their price range] I've never had much to complain about.  I basically keep them docked to my pc and mostly use them when my roommate is trying to sleep and doesn't want to hear my subwoofer all night.   @abby: It took some tampering, but I...

    Sennheiser HD 218 mod idea

Hey all,   I'm fairly new to the quasi-audiophile world (too poor to afford legit headphones).  I bought a pair of HD 218's, Asroided them, and they sound great.  But the pleather material gets kinda uncomfortable, which, I'm guessing, is a result of living in Florida.  I've been looking for...
