What are the main drawbacks to using it as an AV preamp?

I'd like to run the A16 in AV mode sometimes. I'm planning to install 7.1.4 speakers but I'm wondering if I have the option to do a phantom center speaker rather than have an actual speaker there. Is one of the capabilities of the A16 the ability to receive an HDMI signal input with an ATMOS stream embedded, and distribute it to the 16 analog outputs? and if so, does it have a volume knob that will control the level to those 16 outputs?

I got a PRIR measurement done at a trade show by Smyth Research and they said my kickstarter unit would have it loaded in when I receive it. I haven’t gotten my unit yet — does anyone know if these personal measurements are coming loaded into the user presets ?

Well I would guess their target market is people working working on Pro Tools doing surround mixes. The HD I/O and 192 interfaces use the DB25s. I agree with you... I sure would like to get my A16 that had an estimated delivery of 2017.
