Hey guys, long time no see. I'm ready to take a step up from my little FiiO E11 and get something more serious for my SZ1k. Is the Cayin C5 still the go-to amp around that price range, or is that only for the SZ2k and it's too much power for the 1k?

I've been looking for a while on how to use a crossover with the 1K and 2K units. I think I found a way.
One method is to actually put the crossovers behind the drivers.
The other method is just having 4 wires coming from each side of the headphone. This way I can have an adjustable external crossover, lending to two ways of powering the headphone. Either single amp or a proper Bi-amp setup. Bi-amping seems to be the way to go for desktop use. I already ordered connectors and silver plated OCC cables. Crossover parts will be next.

Im thinking of buying the sz2ks but im wondering if my current setup will push them.

Right now im using a smsl sd793 dac/amp going to the INput of a behringer EQ (via RCA adapter) then the OUTput of the EQ i have a fiio a5 (via RCA adapter) that my headphones are plugged into

Wil this push them?

The A5 will do it, but a more powerful amp in the future will deliver a bigger grin on your face.

With the SMSL SD793 having only 130mW @ 32ohm, it wouldn't push them well, however the 800mW @ 32ohm of the FiiO A5 will get you some bump. Keep in mind though that the SZ2k like juice and do better with more.
