This Beyer driver is 234 ohms instead of 250. Can anything be done?

Hello, I have two Beyer DT770 drivers, each from a different pair, I put them together and noticed the volume from both sides was different, so I measured it and one of them shows 234 ohms, the other 250. Can I do anything to match the impedances or I'm just going to have to adjust the volume...

    Millett "Starving Student" hybrid amp

Well I appreciate your responses anyway, at least I fixed the resistors . Maybe I'll try to find a higher rated psu, I think the_equalizer had a 1A cisco psu.

    Millett "Starving Student" hybrid amp

I connected R3 and R9 directly to the pins but it didn't make a difference unfortunately, power supply still turned off after around 2 hours. I tested the current and it was drawing 0.28A. (This PSU is rated at 0.38A).

    Millett "Starving Student" hybrid amp

Interesting, can I test the current with the multimeter? At what point would be best? The mosfets are connected with cables to the pcb, maybe I should connect them directly to the pcb.

    Millett "Starving Student" hybrid amp

Does anyone have any idea why the Cisco power supply enters protection mode after 1-2 hours? It just started happening all of the sudden, I have to disconnect the power supply and wait a minute. The amp works fine, it just turns off all of the sudden, I also notice the power supply is quite hot...

That's what it said. I contacted the seller for a more detailed description.   My guess is they messed up and it's actually the RE-400i.

    Hifiman he-400i Impressions and Discussion

I just bought a used pair for around 67$ + shipping on amazon.co.uk from a very reputable seller, it said it comes with earphones only + extra earbuds.   I don't have high expectations but I had to try. As long as they actually work I supposed I'll be happy, I can always buy or use replacement...

Have you tried with the onboard audio? Some onboard chips nowadays are more than decent.

Such a shame that there's still no way of getting these in Europe. And can't even find a place to import with a fair price either.

    Starving Student PCB's

Well I've re-build the amp with the new pcb into a small cardbox until I can make or find a decent enclosure. It finally sounds alright! I knew there was something wrong with my p2p build, it sounded very harsh, now it's totally different. I'm really glad I bought the PCB, thanks again Fred.  ...

    Starving Student PCB's

Hey muskyhuntr, what do you use for the words on the case? It looks neat. Also do you use a led for the power and if so where does it go in the pcb?   Quote:   Not at all, it's just I prefer the 2D puzzle myself at least for now, maybe because it's easier. Also feels more sturdy with a...

    Millett "Starving Student" hybrid amp

Just as a curiosity, you can usually find up to 6 mosfets with screws, washers and insulation pad inside computer power supplies. If someone has a dead power supply it can be a good way to recycle some parts. Just be very careful if you're gonna poke inside a power supply, be sure to fully...

    Millett "Starving Student" hybrid amp

I'm using the 17EW8 version. I was just re-doing the amp in another enclosure because I didn't like how it sounded before compared to my portable Fiio e6 (bad mids and harsh/piercing highs) and had the feeling something wasn't right. Anyway I finished the new build just now with the same parts...

    Millett "Starving Student" hybrid amp

Quick question. On the_equalizer's mod, are the tube's pins 4 and 5 connected together? I have 5 to ground now but I'm not sure if I need to connect 5 to 4.  Thanks.

Creative Sound Blaster new series Z, Zx & ZxR

Hi. I'm thinking of buying the Z version since my X-Fi died this week, but I need someone to help me out with something. It's about the SBX surround. I know that you can you can set you windows speakers to 5.1, then select headphones in the creative control panel, and activate the SBX Surround...

    Millett "Starving Student" hybrid amp

Anyone with the 17ew8 build finds the highs a little piercing? I'm using the DT770 pro 250ohm. It's specially noticeable when watching action movies with moderate to high volumes. If I switch to my portable amp (Fiio e6), everything is fine.   Is there something I can do to decrease high...

    Millett "Starving Student" hybrid amp

Quick question, Currently I have the amp build on a wood case, but since it's not very well build because it was my first time, I'm planning on redoing it on a metal case. Can someone tell me what do I need to watch out for while bulding on a metal case? The mosfets already have an insulator...

Could I use one card as an input and another one as ouput?

Well, I bought the card, turns out it's possible and very easy to do using Windows 7, just select the Digital In in the recording tab of the second sound card as the default device and activate "Listen to this device", and make sure the default device in the Playback tab is from your primary...
