I own the Omnia, it indeed doesn't sound as good as my previous phone, which was a Nokia N91, and the conversion wire for the 3.5mm jack isn't an ideal solution either. I'll compare it with my brothers Iphone later on, post the results here.

You can disable the drivers / remove drivers through the control panel, but if you would really want to bypass all hardware you should disable an onboard soundcard from your Bios. Otherwise your system will give the messase 'new hardware found, please install.. blabla'. But I'll try disabling...
