The NIKON Thread (Talk About Nikon Stuff here)
If you want to do some reading on the 50mm Nikkors here's a few pages with good info: Bjørn Rørslett's take on various normal range lenses (check out his opinions on other lenses too, and his best of-list). I value his opinion a lot more than say, Ken Rockwells. Nikonlinks has some great...- fabool

The NIKON Thread (Talk About Nikon Stuff here)
I bought one of the older 50/1.8 AI-lenses myself just recently. Yes, the "long nose" older version (and the AI-s version after that), is said to be the optically best one out of all the 50/1.8 Nikkors - after that, the design started to veer more towards cutting costs than enhancing optical...- fabool

anyone use a wacom tablet?
Good point! I completely forgot about the tilt. Just to put it more clearly. The tilt feature will detect the pen's angle and you can, for example, change the stroke by tilting the pen, much like you would with a normal pencil when you use the side of the lead to do wider strokes. The...- fabool

anyone use a wacom tablet?
If drawthru is your only requirement, then any one of Wacom's line will do. My old Intuos does have a somewhat useful feature for drawing through though. There's a transparent sheet on top of the tablet and you can slip your drawing under it to drawthrough. However, you can do this just as...- fabool

anyone use a wacom tablet?
If you're not going to use the tablet for drawing or other graphic applications then it might not be a good place to invest your money in. It's not that comfortable for normal computer use. That said, pretty much any Wacom-brand tablet is great for drawing. I agree that A5 is a good size. I...- fabool

The NIKON Thread (Talk About Nikon Stuff here)
Maybe eBay? I just bagged a 50/1.8 Ai (old version, not the pancake) and, surprisingly, a Katz eye focusing screen for my D200 from there. Just waiting for them to show up, probably sometime after Xmas - unless I was scammed (fairly unlikely).- fabool

i need a vacuum cleaner...
Heh, I was just about to say don't get a Dyson. About the only good thing about is that it's bagless and presumably good for those who have allergies or asthma. Otherwise, the model I have (an older model of this, I think) is poor. The ergonomics are horrible. the unit is clunky and...- fabool

The 18-200 is nice. It's convenient when you have a lens that you can take a tight telephoto shot as well as almost-decent-wideangle shots. but... It really is a bit hard to control. I scored the same D200+18-200VR combo used and cheap a couple of months ago and I'm craving for some...- fabool

Night on Earth - 6/10 Great film. The Rome and Helsinki segments were a bit of a let down, but otherwise a very solid piece. Paris and Los Angeles being the best of the bunch. This film also completed my Jarmusch experience and I've now seen all the man's work (with the exception of that...- fabool

Another Sony would be wise if you happen to have memory sticks left over from the T5 - I don't think there's any other brand cameras that use them.- fabool

Well, there's PMA coming at the end of January and Nikon announce announce something there. There hasn't really been any info on a "D90" though, and I'd say they'll give the D300 a little time to sink in before upgrading the D80. You could always get a used D200 and a D300 strap to go with it- fabool

What Antivirus Program for Vista?
Eset NOD32 or Kaspersky. I'm also keeping my eye on what Comodo can cook up. Their AV is in beta and from what I hear, not that good at the moment, but hopefully it will improve as I quite like their new, just out-of-beta, firewall. As an added bonus, Comodo products are free.- fabool

The NIKON Thread (Talk About Nikon Stuff here)
I'm eyeing a used 105 as well. Not the new one, but rather the older AI-s f2.5, which is said to be extremely sharp and still quite cheap. To be honest, I don't really have a 'need' for the lens, but I just want to get a good manual focus prime to accompany my 18-200VR allrounder on my D200...- fabool

used nikon dslr pricing
You should also keep in mind the average life expectancy of the shutter. I don't think Nikon ever officially told what the life expectancy was for the D70, but I believe it's generally thought to be 50k shutter actuations give or take. Of course, it doesn't mean that the shutter will fail at...- fabool
