My First DSLR...
i started out with an old D70s and the 35mm f/1.8. got the D70s second-hand and the total cost of this set-up was less than what i paid for a brand new Lumix LX3. i really like the 35mm f/1.8 as an every day sort of lens. if you'd like to see some shots of what this lens can do, you can swing...- sputnik00

Got my Super Fi.5s today!
congrats on the new buy. i just a pair of these myself couple days ago. the hiss was quite bad out of my sony md player, but with an attenuator, it's much improved. i find the bass goes quite deep and nice. do you feel the mid-bass is a bit recessed and not as tight though?- sputnik00

IEMs to complement or replace CK7
hi there, coincidentally, my regular IEMs are the CK7 and i also use a AD900 at home, with an old Cowon U3. i too find the CK7 a bit edgy and bright on certain types of music. managed to audition a pair of TF10, but for some reason i found myself enjoying the UE700 sound a little more...- sputnik00

replacement for SF5P - RE0 or UE700?
hi, i don't own any of these phones (yet) but i have auditioned the TF10 and the UE700 on several occasions. source was an unamped cowon U3 with flat EQ, playing vocals, classical and jazz. comfort-wise, i really liked the UE700. very discreet and light compared to the SF5. for the type of...- sputnik00

HTC HD2 or Nexus One as a mp3 player.
yes i think you are right. the music is on the microSD. the HD2 is a monster though, especially with some tweaks and mods from xda developers. my first winmo phone, coming from UIQ and the iPhone, i think it's the most customisable of them all, but a bit cluttered and not as user-friendly...- sputnik00

[REVIEW] Head-Direct RE0 - a new contender for the best IEM
have been following the RE0 impressions with great interest. would anyone have managed to compare the RE0 with the audio technica CK7? my old trusty CK7 (thrice repaired!) are not doing so well. i listen mainly to acoustic, classical and jazz music. simple setup of an old ipod nano (1st...- sputnik00

NW-HD5 and NW-HD3 (Owners)
got a red NW-HD5 from a local outlet that was clearing old electronics. the red is very well done i thought, not the garish sort. i pair it with the remote BIGHMW mentioned. Quote: Originally Posted by BIGHMW The only drawback I could find on it is its weak onboard 5mW amp, which...- sputnik00

Are mobile phone going to replace DAP's eventually??
hi, i'm not an audiophile but am a music lover and lover of gadgets. been following this very interesting thread. the comment about hegemony of the cellphone caught my eye. i agree and share the trepidation of the possibility of a day where we will only have generic devices and no choice for...- sputnik00

-- Cowon iAudio 7 review -- with lots of pictures (no blurry cell phone shots)
coincidentally, i use a rockboxed 1st gen nano which gives me almost the same experience as my U3 sans radio. both interfaces are great if you're the drag-and-drop type of person. i listen to both with flat eq but still prefer the sound from my cowon by a bit, especially for jazz and classical...- sputnik00

-- Cowon iAudio 7 review -- with lots of pictures (no blurry cell phone shots)
one of the reservations i have is the lack of tactile buttons. not a fan of touch thingies. with the U3's joystick, i can fiddle with the controls with the player still in the bag (since the menu is pretty easy to memorise) and not have to look at the screen.- sputnik00

-- Cowon iAudio 7 review -- with lots of pictures (no blurry cell phone shots)
thank you so much for this review. my first mp3 player was the iAudio U3 and it's my best friend ever. but his battery is not holding a charge too well and i'm extremely reluctant to get something other than a Cowon and was considering the i7 or D2. if i could though, i'd buy a U3 again in...- sputnik00

AD700 First Impressions
hi, the impressions by kool bubba ice got me thinking about why i picked the AD900 over the AD700. so using that as the base, comparison with the AD900 in [square parenthesis] below. Music Pros good clarity, especially in the higher frequencies. [pretty similar with the AD900, except...- sputnik00
