Now that you mention it...dammmn daniel - I started noticing it too.   Maybe just the tracks, not sure but I *hear* where you are coming from.  Maybe ill retire them for a couple of weeks so I can forgot I thought this.   Otherwise these headphones are 5-star general.  Damn fine looking too.

Do you have any other comments on a compare between the two? I'm torn between them and the more I read about the th600 the more I lean towards it.

Just got the Shure 840 and 940 pads in the mail. Will test them out tonight. If these don't work then I'm going to order a pair of hm5's.

How deep are the 840s' pads? And are they memory foam within like the 7520's?

How would you rate the th600 in low frequency region compared to the Sony. Quality, quantity, feel ect.

So what the extra gear requirements suggested? Cable-500$ Pha-3-900$ Mods-100$ Adding up here Sony! Looks like the z7 is a good starting point.

For the modded pads, how are you guys dealing with the lack of mesh between the driver. Debris is free to get in there without the screening.

I really need to check out modded pads. After an hour or so of listening I need to start adjusting listening positions cause of discomfort. Based on the thread head discomfort is big-time hit or miss.

  re: sibilance.   Based on my thoughts i'd say that your looking at reproduction "issues" not so much of an emphasis on the 7520.

Some of these reviews make it sound like one is bitter towards the Z7.   Haven't tried them yet (am hoping to hammer them out this weekend).  Hopefully they don't punch me in the nuts.

Update time. Got the Burson conductor sl1793 and have spent around 5 hours paired with my 7520's. So far, so Damn good! As I get through this weekend listening session I will post up some initial thoughts. And maybe some pics for the brushed metal fetish folks.

Has anyone paired a Burson Conductor SL1793 with the 7520's?   Just found a local deal for 50% off the msrp, so am looking at aorund 600$ usd for the unit.

Would those suggested amps be considered warm?

Anyone have a suggestion for a amp in the similar vein as a lehmann linear. Just spent half hour paired my 7520 and must say that it took them to the next level. Unfortunately I can't justify the 1k price tag. 500 usd max is my budget.

+2 Solid deal! I have the 7520's and am trying to justify this purchase. But by the sounds of the last few pages of posts I need to also upgrade my gear. Which is something I got away with not doing when I bought the 7520's.

Yea a review. Thanks for that! I want to see some impressions from a somewhat isolated environment. Not sure about that particular Sony store but the ones in my area are huge! Good for testing the NC headphones but that was it.

I think it was mentioned in the video that the shell of the cups are magnesium. Same as the 7520 by the looks of it.

So are these pads bigger then stock? Height / width / depth etc.
