I had the same problem, and returned them. The second pair is, as far as I can tell, balanced. It wasn't hard to notice the defect in my pair, though (maybe before returning them check that it's not you).- totalnoob43

Got these for about a week, burned them in extensively for about 100+ hrs of music and occasionally pink noise, and find them great. The thing is I find them to be unbalanced. I am in the same situation as you, and I have spotted the HD 25-1 II(after doing extensive research, and looking at MANY cans), for around 250 bucks.
