Sony has new headphones, MDR-1R

Hi,

Will this Sony MDR-1R works fine with Galaxy S3 in all aspects with the cable provided with this headphone pair?
Like the microphone and jack 3.5 mm

And would this work with laptop also via cable for taking conf calls etc?

I ask all these as the specs says the cable is compatible with Apple products only and the customer service guy from Sony is also not sure if this works with any other product.

Your response would help me decide whether to this headphone or not.

Thanks.

The control talk cable. .. While listed as apple only, the microphone and center button DO work while the volume up down do controls NOT.

As for a computer i think it the mic only works if your computer has combined audio and mic jacks like the macbooks and (i think) razer blade. It is not a dedicated mic and therefore does not work like one. I am not sure about this. I do not own a mac but if you're using a windows then it most likely will not work. Someone correct me if i am wrong on this.

I'm thinking about buying these to replace my Beyerdynamic T-50p as my 'on the go' headphones. I still can't decide if I want the silver or black version.

I am selling my MDR-1RNC:

http://www.head-fi.org/t/676378/lnib-sony-mdr-1rnc-premium-headphones-with-noise-cancelling-10-10

Sony built these with the 50mm drivers instead of the 40mm ones in the normal MDR-1R.  They also have a built-in rechargeable battery (via USB) for the noise cancelling feature and built-in digital amplifier, so you don't have to worry about them being under-powered.

You can run them with the noise cancellation either ON or OFF, but everything sounds a little better and more engaging with it ON.

PM if interested.

What is the general thought of the BT version of the 1R?

I'm currently looking for an upgrade from the DT770 pro 80 ohm. Well maybe not an upgrade, but I'm looking for a more "overall" headphone that I can use at home for hours and then also take out on the go.

Is the BT version worth the money? I like that it has NFC for easy pairing and 30(!!) hour battery is pretty nice.
I just got the RBT today. I actually prefer the sound (cabled and bt) over the mdr1, which I thought was overly warm.

Got a pair of the MDR1R today, still sealed in the cellophane packing, from CEX (Cash Converters clone) for £95.00 - considering in most stores they're still retailing for £300.00 - I consider that a steal :)

Now to find a nice silver 3.5mm to 3.5mm cable...

Lucky person. :p

I guess without a Beats logo, the cellphone bundle with 1R means a lot get sold.

Yeah the only person I've ever seen with a 1R in public also had an Xperia Z attached to it.

That phone deal a while back wasnt half bad... If only the xperia z had better specs... Since i was looking for a phone upgrade then anyways.

I just use my 1r with the htc one since it doesn't really scale enough with the e11 to justify me carrying it.

Yeah the Xperia Z seems like one of those phones that isn't a bad phone, good enough, but not as good as some other phones in features. I bet it sounds good though.
