The discovery thread!
Answer me this, when I switch cables and don’t hear a difference then am I correct but when, on isolated occasions, I DO hear a difference from a cable switch am I wrong or a victim of expectation bias? Am I blindly believing what “I want to hear” in either or both scenarios? If either, which...- H T T

Are After-Market Cables better than Stock Cables Most Of The Time?
And what does the science say? What does that science measure? That changing the RLC characteristics from one cable to another changes or doesn't change what in particular and to what degree? IME, most of the time the cable (unless going from SE to balanced) does not change much but there have...- H T T

I might buy a backup Kato or maybe I will wait for a Blessing 3/Crinnacle colab. But, my shortlist is the Moonriver 2 Ti and a Hakugei cable or 2.- H T T

Are you saying there is no bass, just distortion, at that frequency band coming from the Truthear IEMs or in music in general?- H T T

Moondrop in-ear monitors Impressions Thread
It has been awhile so I am going from memory of 2 years ago. I also, did not put much effort into finding the ideal set up for the Aria. So, please take that into consideration. The Aria was too splashy in the upper mids and lower treble. The bass had more distortion than I prefer. Male vocals...- H T T

I never got along with the Aria. Now, the Kato, on the other hand, after burn-in ( for the Kato burn-in is real. I compared a well-used set vs. a new set through the burn-in process. Distortion and resultant harmonics, not fr, changed) and different tips like ePro Horns plus going balanced, well...- H T T

For those of us with multiple headphones, which ones are you listening with now?
Monitoring of my original music: Sony 7506 Playing Jazz bass out of my Ampeg SGT-DI for practice: Beyer DT770 Pro 80 ohm Listening to other's music for enjoyment: Moondrop Kato (ePro Horn tips, Hakugei Lucky cable 4.4) into a LooToo Paw S1- H T T

Switching from Full Headphone (Aeon 2 Noire) to IEM...Recommendations?
I found the Kato to be quite annoying with the stock spring tips and single-ended. I switched to ePro horns and went balanced. Now the Kato is my most used IEM over IEMs costing multiple times the cost of the Kato. I am a fan of the Diffuse Field target. If that target is not to your taste...- H T T

Bass in in the experience. I am being an echo. But, find what is best for you works. Bass itself is so diverse from subs to wobbles to the Lately Bass classic bass patch to a Minimoog bass patch to Jaco to Family Man Barrett.. I find the Serial to be a wonderful IEM but was a bit soft on...- H T T

I have not used my Globe in awhile. I had an inspiration to try the Sands' cable (single ended) with the Globe (green tips) and the L&P W1. A great combination! Improved upper midrange and lower treble, also bass definition improves. The Globe goes from Smooth Operator to My Heart Will Go On...- H T T

The verse is represented by notes that are well within the treble clef. The chorus is represented by notes well into the bass clef. Both of you are correct, depending on the part of the song. You are also both correct, as a bass part from any instrument going into the range of the treble clef is...- H T T

It sounds like a synth pluck with a kick drum. Puth uses Trillium and Kontakt extensively. You can play that part on bass guitar, if you would rather.- H T T

The Tachjim Hana 2021 and/or the Moondrop Kato would fulfill your needs quite well. Caveats: the Hana has a shallow insertion. That might be an issue for you. The Kato needs burn-in until its distortion resolves as the driver settles. That takes about 40 hours of use. The Hana does not need...- H T T

Sorry, but 3 DDs not friendly to metal? Here is Geezer Butler’s bass rig: Granted, an IEM has different hurdles than multiple amp/speaker cabs. But, 3 DDs and a passive radiator is nothing in complexity compared to Geezer’s Rig of Doom. Maybe some IEM designers need to consult Ashdown for...- H T T
