Pardon mine, you're probably more fluent in hifi than I am. The DC-1 is solely a DAC. The Asus is a DAC, a preamp and an amp all at once. So since I'm gonna go with a tube amplifier, I don't need the preamp/amp abilities of the ASUS anymore... That's why I want a unit that is a DAC only. Am I right?

  I'm switching for a tube amp setup so I'll need a separate DAC that only is a DAC.

By applying a too-heavy lacquer coat all at once...? This doesn't happen if you spray thin layers of lacquer. So if you want that, spray a heavier coat on and you're done...

I'm actually weighing the pros and cons of the Schiit products to go along wih the MDs I will order. Is it better to upgrade the amp or the DAC?   I mean, is it better to get the Asgard 2 and the Bifrost (DAC upgrade) or is it better to get th Valhalla or Lyr and the Modi DAC (Amp upgrade)...

Oh and what about a Schiit Magni + Modi combo? Would that be any good with the Mad Dogs?

Hi! I think I'm gonna take the plunge and get me a set of MDs... I don't have any headphone setup at home yet, I'm a total beginner. What would you guys suggest for a DAC/preamp/amp at a maximum cost of $500? Or a separate DAC and a preamp/amp? I don't want to go beyond $800 MDs included...
