Wow There It Is,! Idont know how many hours in, several tip changes, etc....but they sound great now! To any others on the path who may have initial doubts ....trust the Forum, and persevere ! And no, it was not just tip changes and micro placement adjustments.

Something in them friggin thingies changed...nothing changed in my ear canal, nothing changed in my noggin!

On the subject of burn in, anyone care to comment on the salesperson at Cable Company and manufacturer saying there is 50 hour but in on the Burson Soloist headphone amp? Its solid state....what can possibly change? Also suggested leave on all time or half hour warm up! Now that sounds like...

It would seem many others disagree and feel that burn in is a physical reality. I did seem to be the case with some Grado RS 1's that I owned at one time, and also with the some speakers. I can't address the physical changes that might take place....but I think I have a good enough ear to say...

OK, maybe a $19 dollar set - fresh out of the box as I mentiined. At 100 hours there is a remarkable difference....as predicted by forum members. They are sounding pretty good now...the grainy harsh high end has diminished, and there is some bass.As the break in period seems to be a known issue...

Hail to the Collective Wisdom of the Forum!  Fifty hours and they are improving.  Also observed that with proper insertion I can no longer hear my ex wife's demands for more money!

After setting the red switches on my little dot 4 on gain setting 10 and listening for a few sessions (audeze 3's), it seemed that yes there was more volume with a lower dial setting....but the sound seemed 'thinner', the soundstage not so full and three dimensional, as when on factory default...

Just listed my 5 month old LDMKIV SE on e bay for $340 plus shipping (fair price?)....if it sells will try the Burson Soloist or the LD VIII to pair with recent Audeze 3's - I think they will do well with the additional power.

Thank you for the LD advice, the setting of 10 did give noticeable improvement. The whole issue with the switches has been confusing to me: I have two separate red switch 'blocks' - each has two switches, numbered 1 and 2, so the reference in the manual to switch 1or 2 is ambiguous (to me!)...

Also off topic here....considering selling my LD IV SE and getting the Burson Soloist....I am listening with new Audeze 3's and not sure if I need more power. Would appreciate advice on the best LD settings for these cans....seem to be more switch settings than in the manual. Thank you.

Uh, I think I am overthinking this: re the two red 'global' gain switches that are accessed through the underneath of the MK IV SE, factory default is #'s 1&2 on.....switch #1 would be the top one, right?

Thank you for the excellent advice, which I shall follow. The salesman would send me the Burson Soloist on a trial basis for a couple of weeks....fee of 5% ....applicable if I buy something else....but your 6 month suggestion is wise. 100 hour burn in time, which I will do hour or two a day.
