Soundcard for raising volume of V-Moda M100's, equivalent to FiiO E12

Personally, I haven't had much of a sound floor problem with my m100s (tested it on the NFB 15, Xonar U3, simple onboard audio, and phone), which is why I recommended the soundcard. The only difference I noticed with those sources was how loud I could get them.   Since you are concerned noise...

Soundcard for raising volume of V-Moda M100's, equivalent to FiiO E12

Ah, if you already ordered the E12 it should work fine. If you find that you still hear noise from your computer, you may want a DAC. A lot of people here prefer the Schitt Modi or the ODAC. I don't think I know enough about soundcards to help you out there.

Soundcard for raising volume of V-Moda M100's, equivalent to FiiO E12

A sound card is pretty much a DAC/Amp combo that you can place inside a computer to replace the default integrated one. It should perform similarly to an external one for your needs. Installing one will increase the quality of the sound from the port on your computer since it's connected to the...

Soundcard for raising volume of V-Moda M100's, equivalent to FiiO E12

The E12 seems to work fine with the M100s and they have heaps of power in case you ever decide to buy other headphones.   It sounds like your computer has a crappy built in dac/amp so you could look into getting a new sound card instead. You can power your headphones with your smartphone when...

Soundcard for raising volume of V-Moda M100's, equivalent to FiiO E12

A lower end Fiio should be able to drive them just fine. Spend some of that saved money on a pair of XL pads as well.   They also respond really well to EQ so I would play around with that a bit. I got a really balanced sound sig by EQing the bass/treble slightly down and the mids slightly up...

    Skullcandy? Seriously???

This thread is half a decade old, their complaints were pretty valid back then. I had a bunch of Skullcandy headphones growing up and none of them except the aviators really compared to the "serious" stuff. I liked my M50s and the Aviators equally, each had genres they did specialized in. In...

HiFiman HE-500 (HE as in High End) Proving to be an enjoyable experience in listening.

I should note that I had to change the headphone setting to the higher gain and the channel output from 70% to 100%. I'm curious to see what an upgrade will change.

HiFiman HE-500 (HE as in High End) Proving to be an enjoyable experience in listening.

I'm running a recently acquired pair of HE-500s off my $40 Asus Xonar U3 usb soundcard while I try to decide on a "serious" amp/dac. The sound is surprisingly good, I'd recommend it as a super low budget amp.

    Audio Technica ATH-M50 (Red)

I have the standard m50s. They were pretty good for commuting, but the pads tend to get a little hot after a while (I was commuting for an hour and forty minutes, so a shorter commute may not have that problem). They're pretty durable and it's nice that they fold up to be compact. The coiled...

    V-MODA M-100: Discussion/Feedback, Reviews, Pics, etc.

There is only one E17.   Sadly mine has stopped working but I'll be sending it in for the warranty so I can try it with my new m100. I plan to order the XL pads if they get good reviews and snag a pair of shields once I make up my damn mind on the design.     Maybe the thicker pads will...

    Never Meet Your Heroes

Just curious, but how much of a difference did you see when you went from HD595 to HD600? Were you expecting something similar to that difference?

    THE DIY HEADPHONE STAND THREAD

Mahogany in that render, but it can be pretty much any material you want. Big, blocky, modular design, extremely DIY friendly :)       The toughest part to replace would be the glass pillar due to it being hollow.   Of course, all of this is in my mind and haven't been applied in...

    No-Amp Headphone Recs

You just described the Yamaha Pro 400s. Take a look at those. People tend to overlook them simply because of the beats lawsuit but it won't hurt to give it some consideration.

    THE DIY HEADPHONE STAND THREAD

I haven't built anything just yet, but I did make a prototype in Creo for one of my classes. It's very modular and simple because the idea is to change the material to match your headphones. It's hard to tell from this angle, but the arm does have a curved surface near the end, and the glass...

    Headphone comfort

My HD595s are super comfortable but I still prefer iems for long time comfort. I am somewhat new to the hobby so I suppose I'm not used to the sensation of a headband pushing down on my head for a long period of time just yet. Perhaps cutting my hair might help

    Headphone Sightings 2

I saw a pair of Sennheiser Momentums on the Market-Frankford Line. The earcups are smaller than I expected them to be. I was still somewhat giddy about finally seeing something good on someone else.

HELLO? ANY TEENAGE HEAD-FI'ERS OUT THERE???

I'm a teenager for a month and a half more. Got into headphones about 6 months ago. Best decision of my life. Not too good for my wallet though.

    Headphone Sightings 2

Seeing nice headphones out in the public makes my day. It's a shame that doesn't happen often.
