Open Headphones (<$300) with FiiO E10
Thanks for the information, I don't need a deeply analytical headphone for my purposes and like the idea of a more 'fun' headphone so I'm going to stick with the X2.- sgt deacon

Open Headphones (<$300) with FiiO E10
Thanks for the advice, but at this point I'm not terribly interested in buying used headphones. Based on some reviews I am readying I think I am going to grab the Philips Fidelio X2 tomorrow.- sgt deacon

Open Headphones (<$300) with FiiO E10
I have a pair of Sennheiser HD 380 Pro's (closed) that I have enjoyed over the past 3 years, one of the reasons I got them was they were closed and provided a bit of isolation from background noises. Now that my living situation has changed I'm looking to buy open headphones to experience the...- sgt deacon

DAC Recommendations for Sennheiser HD 380 Pro?
Hi, I've been considering getting a DAC lately and I have been wondering about a couple of things. How much improvement would I notice going from my on-board soundcard to a DAC? About how much should I spend on a DAC? Right now my soundcard is on-board and on a business laptop no...- sgt deacon

Picked up my first pair of 'good' headphones, I'm pretty impressed (Sennheiser HD 380 Pro)
Thanks for the feedback everyone, I think I like the decision to sacrifice a small amount of sound quality for more comfort, especially since i will be wearing these an extended period of time. I didn't really think of the implications of it being closed versus open, while I like the...- sgt deacon

Picked up my first pair of 'good' headphones, I'm pretty impressed (Sennheiser HD 380 Pro)
So after much debating on what headphone I wanted I went ahead and picked up the Sennheiser HD 380 Pro. I know I had posted in the recommendation thread awhile ago and today I went to guitar center. I tried on both the Shure SRH840 (which is what I was mainly interested in) and the Sennheiser...- sgt deacon

Sorry for taking a while to post this, been busy.. Any rate if anyone had any interest in what headphones I decided to go with my decision is to wait a bit longer. Quote: The problem with Amazon is it doesn't sell directly through Amazon (only fulfilled through Amazon), and the retailer that Amazon sells through is not an authentic Shure retailer, meaning no 2 year manufacturer warranty. Quote: That's what I figured. Thanks for the...- sgt deacon

Quote: Ok, thanks. In my current situation I felt like closed would be better (college dorm, when I am at home I am also sitting right next to someone as well), would an open set of headphones be a big enough leap that I should consider them more? When I was looking for headphones closed...- sgt deacon

Question about the Shure SRH 840 before I take the plunge: How are they for gaming? I read here: http://www.head-fi.org/t/519068/noob-here-question-about-shure-srh840 And it doesn't seem like they would be terribly good, but I'm looking for some more opinions. Also when I have been...- sgt deacon

What is a recommended retailer of the Shure SRH840? Amazon has them ,but it is sold through someone else and apparnetly they are not an 'authorized retailer' of Shure headphones, which makes it so you don't get the 2 year manufactorer warranty. Anyone have any recommended places to pick them up...- sgt deacon
