They are good, but if you are a basshead or a neutral head there are better options in that price range for those niches. M50's can do it all pretty well   The mids on my pair are not super recessed, everything sounds pretty forward.

I don't think that an amp would be necessary for the UE6000 or the M50. Between the two, the UE6000 seems like a step up in sound quality and comfort but I have no complaints regarding my M50's. I would recommend them if your budget was tighter, but with the extra wiggle room, you have opened...

M-Audio Q40's from B&H?!

How do the closed back A900x compare to the ES700? It seems they would have similar tuning but what else sets them apart sound-wise?

I just found out I can get the DT770 80Ohm version for a pretty good price in town. according to the rest of the forums they are bass monsters but how do they fare with the Bassheads?

In my calculus class some guy has the big silver beats. They look silly and even in class during a lesson he will have them around his neck...    Some other headphones I've spotted at school have been some from Nixon, XB300's, other Sony Supraaurals. A buddy of mine as the AKG K172HD...

My M50's mids don't sound recessed. And to say that the HFI models do a "better job" is a pretty silly statement. They both have their strengths, the HFI's being better bass, the M50's being better all-rounders with better treble.

I have the R1 and have logged tons of hours with it. It has a fairly good soundstage, great by IEM standards within that budget. I enjoy the bass response. It is not a whole ton but to me it gets the job done. 

A900x??? I am using the hold-back technique on myself from buying them as an upgrade!

For classical and rock I would think the M50 might be a bit better, but if you feel like doing something unusualy, get Tenso to forward some A900x's from amazon.co.jp!

Is the bass quality of the M50 sufficient enough for double amping from the ZO+E11 or will the sound by excessively muddy? Whenever I bring up the bass I bit using an EQ (Electri-Q) the sound is really unpleasant?   I gave Flux's new EP a listen, I try to listen to lots of music and download...
