Nice I could agree more.... Abyss TC rules.

The JPS Labs: Abyss AB-1266 Impressions Thread

Fascinating. I think the idea is to get some of the physical impressions of a speaker rig in a headphone system? I fancy trying it.

    The Stax Thread III

The Stax amps are not the best IMO. If you are comfortable with DIY creations, there are many alternatives that sound better.

Have you contact Woo audio, they can help you I am sure.

    Audeze LCD-4

I too prefer the LCD4 with the Roon LCD4 EQ, which is the same as the reveal plugin.

    Hifiman HE1000-SE

Some great points there. And I agree with you. I am trying to zero in on the sonics, quality level and detail, not so much the personal experience between the two mediums. IMO the gap between top 2 channel and top HPs has narrowed a LOT in the last 10 years. If you notice, there are quite a few...

Wow, that is going to be super fiddly getting those caps off.

    Hifiman HE1000-SE

I agree. Top end headphones are expensive, but do give you 200K speaker system sound quality. So if we take that into account, they are still cheap LOL. If you can accept my analogy. I have heard 500K 2 channel at Munich, and the TC (for example) gets you a lot of that sound. Once you get a...

Interesting. The Primarvera is in the same price area as the Aries Cerat Genus 25W SET headphone amplifier. I would love to compare them.

The JPS Labs: Abyss AB-1266 Impressions Thread

My photo, my system. The Moon 600i works great on the Abyss, and is also a nice speaker amp. But the ultimate headphone AND speaker amp is the Aries Cerat Genus SET 25W tube amp. No contest. I am doing a super deal on the Genus at the moment, and sale or return if your socks are not blown off...

    HiFiMan Susvara

Interesting. Off topic but do you find single driver speakers have weak bass and low dynamics / power handling?

    HiFiMan Susvara

Formula S and Powerman should also be a contender.

MSB Reference Headphone Amp Review or Impressions?

For solid state I would recommend the Formula S and Powerman. It sounds superb with the Utopia, and has plenty of power on tab should you change to less efficient headphones later such as the Abyss or Susvara for example. For tubed amps there is the Woo Audio WA33, DNA models, Riviera. But the...

    Audeze LCD-4z - Impressions Thread

Interesting. The stock Audeze cable (black and white version) is indeed a bit brittle in the mid treble to my ears. I guess they went for that to give the CD4z and LCD4 a bit of extra bite up top? I use the Norne Audio all Silver. It is more open yet has no harshness to it at all. Don't forget...

    Raal Ribbon Headphones - SRH1A

Interesting. The RAAL does some things so well, but is problematic to my ears in other. Without question the soundstage and details are world class, but... This hobby is so complicated.

MSB Reference Headphone Amp Review or Impressions?

There is better amps for HP use for much less. The Formula S + Powerman for example. Way better for headphone use. The MSB Electrostatic amplifier is way overpriced for the performance and parts used in it. There was a big discussion on the other forum about that. The BHSE for example for...

Diana: the second release by Abyss Headphones!

Nice review, thanks for that. My opinion is the Diana V2 is ahead as an overall winner. And factor in the lower price, less weight (LOT LESS) and the portability, you have to come back to the Diana IMO. It's a cliché, but I would say 'what's not to like' with the Diana V2.

    Focal Utopia General Discussion

The DAVE has a great built in amp, and powers the LCD4 and Abyss TC superbly as well. Volume on the DAVE on my LCD4s is about -12dB and -3dB on the Abyss.

Diana: the second release by Abyss Headphones!

Some of the magic with the Abyss is the frame / fit. It gives a massive soundstage, really approaching the best soundstage of high end speakers. It get you away from the middle of the head stage.

    The Stax Thread III

Sorry, I disagree. Having owned most of the old and current models at some point, the 007 is not as efficient to my ears as any of the other current line up. They also need a powerful amp to wake them up, it is not just about volume. The 717 which I also owned for some time, was ahead of the...

The JPS Labs: Abyss AB-1266 Impressions Thread

Interesting amp design. if it has 25W into 8ohms, into 60ohms it is going to be about 6W I would guess.

KGSShv Carbon - hows it sound with the 009s?

It depends greatly how you drive it. Big tube amps sound quite different for example.
