EarPods - Apples newest entry into IEM

Quote: I've personally never understood the desire to listen to music "on the go". There are relaxing and exciting music... both of which are best when the listener is relaxed and seated. Speaking of seated, I'm not fond of hearing other people's music in the library, foodplace, etc...

    The Monoprice MP9927 PG 208.. MP8320 (MEP-933)..The $7.11 club..

I am definitely ordering the white one (w/ standard cord). Bye-bye cloth cord! (Might get the pink one for the lulz....)

    The Monoprice MP9927 PG 208.. MP8320 (MEP-933)..The $7.11 club..

I've just found out about the blue (I mean, white), pink, and black varieties - I remember earlier in the thread, Dsnuts talked about emailing Monoprice about new colours and non-cloth cords on these in ears..... It worked! Edit = Turns out the blue is actually white! Even better...

EarPods - Apples newest entry into IEM

I finally decided to get a pair of Earpods. They sound quite nice! A lot better than the odd Monoprice 8320s in my opinion.

How much is the rent? I have a few people I can ask.

    The Monoprice MP9927 PG 208.. MP8320 (MEP-933)..The $7.11 club..

Quote: My thoughts (almost) exactly. To me, the lower midrange (and mid bass) is a tad lacking. Too much low bass and upper mids relative to what's in between. It doesn't help that the highs are so ring-ey. But for $7, I don't mind.

    Deathmatch: Innerfidelity vs. Headfonia

Koss Portapro LE The limited edition Portapro, as you know, is more than just an”anniversary” marketing model. The LE model has a more refined sound and a better bass performance than the regular edition, which justifies the price tag that it sells for.   Just one of the reasons I don't go...

EarPods - Apples newest entry into IEM

Golden Ears measured the earpods-- the results correlate well with the other two set of measurements as well.  I'm sold... almost. But GE is raving about the bundled in ears of the Optimus G (phone?) at the moment. To me, it's encouraging that people are getting (supposedly) better...

    The Monoprice MP9927 PG 208.. MP8320 (MEP-933)..The $7.11 club..

Well, who knows? It could be that the 8320s are perpetually quiet sounding.   I do feel that these lack the coziness of some headphones. edit = Fixed a typo.

    The Monoprice MP9927 PG 208.. MP8320 (MEP-933)..The $7.11 club..

Quote: The Nexus S, yes?  From what I can tell, your 8320s are not properly electrically damped by your phone (source). The Nexus S' output impedance, according to Golden Ears, is 13.63 Ohms, and the 8320s' impedance is, according to Monoprice, 32 Ohms. Generally speaking, a 13.63 Ohm...

EarPods..! - Its what apple calls its next gen Earbuds.. Fancy anyone?

Quote: You may well have listed some of the "best" headphones under $100. I always say I'd pay $30 at most for the Monoprice 8320s, but do they match the "best" $30 in ears? I don't really know.. What I do know is that they are probably the "best" $7 in ears around. Not to defend...

EarPods..! - Its what apple calls its next gen Earbuds.. Fancy anyone?

Quote: That's more a design flaw than anything, really. As far as I know, the former earbuds sounded fairly consistent from one person to the other. I don't know what to make of the earpods, yet...

EarPods..! - Its what apple calls its next gen Earbuds.. Fancy anyone?

Quote:   I see... If the sound is so drastically dependent on fit, it'd be hard to get the two channels to sound the same. But I suppose it'd be obvious when they are either inserted too deeply or shallowly (if that's even a word..). I'll try to get my hands on these through a friend...

EarPods - Apples newest entry into IEM

Seems to me that fit is a very significant variable! Maybe rinchoi's pair of earpods were measured fit loose? Or Sonove's pair inserted unusually deep?

EarPods..! - Its what apple calls its next gen Earbuds.. Fancy anyone?

Quote: The 8320 doesn't seal...  :P A lot of listenable headphones (e.g. ZX700, HD 201...) have rolled off response below 100Hz, so that's not too problematic. The question is, how steep is the roll off? Are these earpods really bass heavy? Or just relative to the former earbuds?

EarPods - Apples newest entry into IEM

Quote: It's probably paper reinforcement on a mylar diaphragm. Now I'm not well-versed at all, but I think Apple might have added the paper dome to prevent modal break-up at large volumes. Some extra paper (on the center of the driver) would help handle more energy.  It's not exactly...

Quote: Oh snap!  I'm a bit turned off after watching Dalethorn's review, though. Bass heavy and M80-like isn't what I wanted to hear... I never liked the M80s much. I guess I'm $30 closer to a DT 990 now.

EarPods..! - Its what apple calls its next gen Earbuds.. Fancy anyone?

Quote: Well, in my opinion, even the former apple earbuds sound better than Beats headphones. A lot of people buy Beats to look cool, whatever cool is. I'd like to try the earpods, but I don't want to pay $30 for an earphone bundled to a product I don't have... or want.

    The Monoprice MP9927 PG 208.. MP8320 (MEP-933)..The $7.11 club..

The 8320 has enough bass for me-- a bit much, actually.  I with the 8320 had more treble... Maybe the Sony tips are taking the treble away?
