Do you have an overall preference in sound signature for the Utopia 2020 vs 2022?

Congratulations on the purchase. I would be curious to hear your impressions of the E3 vs Utopia 2022 and HD800S after extended listening.

Thanks for the impressions! Considering another headphone to complement the HD800 and Utopia 2022 appears to be a strong contender.

How do you think the HD800S compares to your Utopia 2022?

Interesting thread. I just built a new system and I have a bit perfect ENVY24MT sound card (Onkyo SE-90) and on board audio output via optical only. I am getting HDCD (red light on my dac goes on) to be passed through via Direct Sound. The key to getting things "bit perfect" for me via direct...

I think the k340 is one of the most under rated headphones. Congrats on snagging a nos pair, it looks fantastic!

Just wanted to comment on the fine work done on the HD800, looks great as usual Alex HD800 owners we need some impressions!

I have a Slim Devices Transporter. Personally, I think it a great source..though I didn't pay $2k for it and doubt that I would..I feel its worth about $1300~ As with any other source system matching is really key and in the end it all comes down to personal taste.

Looking at 1TB+...All FLAC

Slim Devices Transporter --> First Watt F1

I'd say go for it if you believe the sound quality of the Transporter is better than your Lavry DA10. If you ever decide to upgrade your source you would be able to have a top class transport in the SB3 without having to rebuy one. If you ever had to sell the Transporter you would have to rebuy...

Alex does a great job. I have a lot of respect for the work he puts into his customers headphones (Yes I am somewhat biased)

I'm also running direct to amp with Scott Endler Attenuators as the "preamp." My amp has high input impedance though (100,000kohm) so i've got enough breathing room.

I haven't run mine SE before. I Should try though..my amp has both SE/Balanced inputs, but like your Ayre gear my F1 is said to perform better in balanced mode.
