    One friend now uses AKG K701s and Shure E4cs. Another friend now uses Sennheiser HD650s and Shure E4cs as well.

    IMO The AKG 701s are what the Senn 650s should've been.

    Amp that works well with phones and speakers?

    I have a Little Dot III. It's a great headphone amplifier and has 5-way binding posts on the back to hook up speakers. Note the speakers have got to be pretty efficient as the power output is only 3.5W per channel.
