From HD 598 to HD 700: worthwhile or not?
I agree with papant7. I've tried all the phones he mentioned and my favourite is the HD700. I love my 598s but the 700s I won't hesitate to buy once I find a good deal :)- jmarsiglio

Sennheiser HD 598: Ugly or Sexy
I think they look above average, but they seem rather flimsy. But I guess that comes with being essentially weightless which I love. These headphones are just the best. Not going to upgrade until the hd 700/800- jmarsiglio

++ FULL-SIZE HEADPHONE RECOMMENDATIONS THREAD++ CLOSED: Please post a thread in the Introductions, Help and Advice forum
Quote: I have the HFI-780s and I think they are a really good all around can with an emphasis on the bass. They don't need an amp which is a good thing, and they are closed so very little to no noise escapes. The bass is lighter than my pro 900s and they are much less fatiguing...- jmarsiglio

Ultrasone Pro 900 Impressions Thread
Quote: I would try the 598s. I thought I wouldn't like them after the 900s but now I am considering ditching my 900s because I like the 598s so much. They are much easier to listen to in terms of sound and comfort. And with an amp their bass is very nice. I prefer the bass even to the 900s...- jmarsiglio

Anyone know the release date for the nwavguy ODA
I would wait for nwavguy's amp. Even though his posts are arrogant, he is always technically correct from what I have read of his. Yes the Asgard has been fixed, but the O2 is a technically superior amp - and it's cheaper. But hey, I have an Asgard and I am happy with it because it looks nice...- jmarsiglio

Senn HD650 or HD600?
I found both positively boring. The HD 700 was miles better in my opinion. I even prefered the HD 598 to the 600/650s. I'm assuming th HD 800s are even better than the 700s but anyhow... Perhaps you are like me in that you don't like such a neutral sound, and need some bass impact and...- jmarsiglio

++ FULL-SIZE HEADPHONE RECOMMENDATIONS THREAD++ CLOSED: Please post a thread in the Introductions, Help and Advice forum
Quote: The Beyer's have better (less muddy) base than the sennheisers, and if you get the Dt 880s you can even use them on-the-go as they are semi-open. The HD 600/650s I found very neutral, and even boring. I think they lacked in bass and soundstage, but your opinion may be completely...- jmarsiglio

++ FULL-SIZE HEADPHONE RECOMMENDATIONS THREAD++ CLOSED: Please post a thread in the Introductions, Help and Advice forum
Quote: Try the HD 600/650. Closed? Why don't you just use your portables on the subway and an open at home. Open are usually less bassy and a much more interesting sound signature, soundstage in particular. Take a look at the DT 880s, they are supposed to be fairly neutral and...- jmarsiglio

how to eliminate computer noise?
Just wanted to update you guys. The USB isolator from Taiwan fixed everything. No noise at all now. It's much cleaner (visually) as well than radioshacks ground loop isolator. Thanks everyone for your help.- jmarsiglio

how to eliminate computer noise?
So the PCI USB helped reduce the noise by about 50%, but I'm going to buy the USB isolator anyway just because I figured I might as well, don't want it festering in my mind ;)- jmarsiglio

Amp suggestions for HD598, balanced DT880
Yes, you will likely need to purchase either a ground loop insulator or usb insulator for the Asgard to get rid of RFI and/or ground loops.- jmarsiglio

Best open all around headphones under $250
I tried the HE-400 on classical music, it was okay I guess. Honestly though, make sure you know that Grados are not circumaural, that might bother you. I personally hate it. I would just go with the 598s, they are incredibly comfortable and they will make you happier than spending $600+ on a...- jmarsiglio
