Audio-Technica ATH-A900X: Impressions, Reviews, Mods, etc.

Has anyone gotten the refurbished ATH-A900x's from buydig? How good was the quality? http://www.buydig.com/shop/product.aspx?sku=ATHA900XRB&ref=bizrate&omid=105&CAWELAID=1818625283

    Is my ATH-M50 defective?

Is there anything that can be done for them? There's a pretty popular headphone repair shop in my city (Jay's headphone repair) and I'm thinking about sending them in. If it's not worth it/ not possible, then I guess I'll either stick with these or end up buying a new pair.

    Is my ATH-M50 defective?

I ordered them from a reputable ebay seller (proaudiomart) who basically ONLY sells headphones. 98% of the thousands of reviews that he has received were overwhelming positive. It even came in the original packaging! And I'm plugging them into my laptop/ipod.

    Is my ATH-M50 defective?

Stock apple earbuds and those $10 gumy ones haha. I was definitely not exposed to bass beforehand, that's for sure. And I've had them for like a year now so it should definitely be burnt in by now.

    Is my ATH-M50 defective?

I can confirm that they're not fake.  I opened em up and the drivers look exactly like the real ones should. It feels pretty real too. However, there is practically no bass! Or at least, the bass is the complete opposite of what I expected. I dunno, it's very subtle to say the least. I've read...

    Where to get headphones fixed?

Is there anywhere in New York that I can drop my ATH M50's to get fixed? There is DEFINITELY something wrong with the sound and if I fiddle with the jack enough it goes back to normal so I'm going to assume it's something wrong with that. However I have absolutely no experience with soldering...

How do you open up/unscrew a pair of ATH M50's?

So far I've been really enjoying my refurbished ATH M50's that I got off ebay. They were sent from Florida, everyone who ordered a pair were really happy etc. However, after like what, half a month, one of the rings are starting to feel really loose. Like I can get my fingernail underneath it no...

How will it feel going from stock ipod earphones to M50s?

Holy crap, just got em and I'm not even kidding, second I put them on and put on some music I could feel myself smiling cheesily. xD This is awesome! :P

How will it feel going from stock ipod earphones to M50s?

I have a small head so I'm not sure the clamping will be a problem. And hah, it's fine. :P We're all entitled to our opinions here. Still excited for them though - they're coming in 2 days ON MY BIRTHDAY as well. :D

How will it feel going from stock ipod earphones to M50s?

I've been looking at other headphones/amps while my m50's are being shipped...I feel like I'm cheating on it or something. :P I might have to go on a hiatus from this site once I get them. xD

How will it feel going from stock ipod earphones to M50s?

All the analogies are both hilarious and helpful at the same time. xD Thanks guys. And I hope for my wallet's sake that I never get the urge to "get a new, better partner" xD

How will it feel going from stock ipod earphones to M50s?

See, I did a CRAPLOAD of research and realized that 100 kbps mp3s were probably not gonna do so well so I replaced more than half my library with 320+ kbps versions. :P Right now with these crappy ibuds I hear absolutely no difference except for the fact that my ibuds BUZZ whenever there's...

How will it feel going from stock ipod earphones to M50s?

Never owned a pair of good quality headphones in my LIFE. Haven't even listened to them. So I'm wondering if I'll experience something life changing or if it's something that's really subtle. I don't want to hype myself too much only to get underwhelmed so I thought I would get your opinions. xD...

Is anyone happy with just one headphone?

Hopefully I will be for my wallet's sake. :/

Would you wear full sized headphones with a coiled cable in public?

Well...I'm 5'1". xD And that's true, even though literally all the headphones I've seen in my school are beats. :P

Would you wear full sized headphones with a coiled cable in public?

These are apparently 3-4 feet long with the cord completely coiled. I don't think the length would matter, but rather the fact that I have a telephone cord hanging from my neck. :p And alright guys, I'll just enjoy them and not care about what other people think. :)

Would you wear full sized headphones with a coiled cable in public?

JUST order the ATH M50s for $90 off of ebay (the seller had 100% positive feedback too and seemed to develop a rep selling M50's). First pair of headphones over $50 and I mainly bought them for the sound, design, and "portability". However, I've never seen anyone with a coiled cable in public...

Should I buy the ATH M50 or M50s for running/working out?

That's a very good point. :P Alright, then I'm sticking to the stock ibuds for working out. However, would you recommend the M50s if I were merely using them on the go (walking, taking the train, using them at home)?

Should I buy the ATH M50 or M50s for running/working out?

I don't mind looking a little strange with full size headphones (especially since from what I've seen, these headphones actually look really nice), but yeah. :P And I would get the IE7's except for the fact that they're beyond my budget. :/ Would you guys recommend the NuForce NE700x or re0s?

Should I buy the ATH M50 or M50s for running/working out?

I mean they're not JUST for working out so really nice sound/build quality is still necessary since I'm planning on using these daily (on the train, at home on my laptop, etc.). If it really is that much of a pain to run with these, which IEMs would you guys recommend (under $150)?   EDIT...

Should I buy the ATH M50 or M50s for running/working out?

I was originally going to buy the coiled version since I /really/ don't want to hold 11 feet of wire in my hand while running several miles but I heard that the coil REALLY weighs you down significantly. Which one should I buy?

    Sennheiser HD 448 or Audio-Technica ATH M50?

As a matter of fact, those were my ONLY experience with headphones. Yeah, I know. :P And jerg, how would I do that? Do I just change the EQ setting on my ipod and blast it? I was prepared to play some pink noise or something via this app on my ipod. Quote:

    Sennheiser HD 448 or Audio-Technica ATH M50?

It's official then - I'm getting the M50 (coiled version). Really excited to see how they sound compared to those crappy ipod stock earphones. xD

    Sennheiser HD 448 or Audio-Technica ATH M50?

Yeah, I had a feeling that would be the case. However, would the cord length be an issue? I don't monitor audio, create music, etc at all so I feel like any cord longer tan 5 ft would be a hindrance. I want to be able to run/exercise with them and carry them around without having to stuff 5 ft...

    Sennheiser HD 448 or Audio-Technica ATH M50?

I'm far from being an audiophile seeing as I've been using stock apple earphones for the past 2 years now. However, I feel like it's about time I actually buy headphones that make music sound /good/. All I'm using these headphones for is gaming and just casual listening (whether I'm running, on...
