Harsch Acoustic: Swiss-made CIEMs from designer of the Phonak IEMs

Stumbled upon http://www.harschacoustic.ch, a new CIEM brand started by Samuel Harsch, who worked for Phonak Audeo when they made IEMs. He has caused a minor sensation over at DIYAudio as he proposed a simple way to get a near-transient-perfect crossover (google 'Harsch crossover') I haven't...

    VSONIC VC02 Thread

Tyll measured the VC02s. Spectacular measurements, were it not for a distortion bump in the upper midrange and the dip in midrange response (which corroborate with Rin's measurements). Rin says the dip is cancelled out in actual listening though. What is intriguing is the distortion profile of...

What Are You Listening To Right Now?

Lawson - Learn to Love Again   Not really my cup of tea, this Britpop (I surmise?) thing. Catchy but not really engaging or particularly memorable. I had to check them out after some of my female acquaintances gushed over them when they visited their school.   Times like this makes...

    VSONIC VC02 Thread

Some comments by LMUE intrigued me. It seems as if supply of VC02s by the distributor was a little messed up, affecting stocks and RMA. Perhaps due to component shortage, or perhaps, product revision? The price increase seems a little coincidental. Nevertheless, the detachable plug is just a tad...

    Negative Aspects of Top CIEMs

Well, I was eying an entry-level custom at one point, but for me, I would leave customs at home. CIEMs don't strike me as particularly durable for the most part. Another thing is the price. With impressions and shipping accounted for, a top CIEM (i.e. Fitears and UERMs) can cost in the kilobuck...

VSONIC VC1000 - new dual BA IEM - Info & expectations thread

Surfing Weibo to get some preliminary impressions on the VC1000. I did not have to look very far. Literally the first hit told me this (translated): 'The VC1000, bar none, has the best bass quality amongst the hottest new releases to the (IEM) market.'    EDIT: some more quick impressions...

Final Audio Design Impressions and Discussion Thread

Woops. Agreed. Listening, I find, is often a battle of the mind and heart. I can't pass judgement, but thought I'd share what I read. FAD's designs are very much pandering to the heart (e.g. emotional response) rather than anything really purely logical and... objective (for want of a better...

Final Audio Design Impressions and Discussion Thread

Looks like the Piano Forte XIII got measured. The measurements are pretty... funky to say the least. I shan't comment on what I haven't heard, and I have never posted here before, but I found it worthy to be raised in this thread. Find it here...

Quote: Interested to know too. In any case, I am highly satisfied with them. Going to RMA them and continue using them. Some say it is a bit on the thin side. In my opinion, whilst the high treble has a very slight edge to it, it is overall more on the mildly warm and sweet side of neutral...

Portable Earphone / IEM Not Made in China Or Japan

Exactly. You'll be looking at the esoteric stuff and CIEMs if you want the assurance. At least an Ety ER4, I believe.

Portable Earphone / IEM Not Made in China Or Japan

That is a shame. Many earphones that come with great build quality and destroy many similarly priced offerings from brand-name companies actually originate from boutique audio companies based in China and Japan. Not to knock on continental offerings, but generally you have to spend much more to...

    The Monoprice MP9927 PG 208.. MP8320 (MEP-933)..The $7.11 club..

Not sure if it has been posted yet and I have no impressions on the monoprices, but the 9927 got measured. Boy oh boy did they measure well. Better than some exotica like the Victor FX700. Hell, they do not just measure well at that price; they measure well at ANY price. Link here...

Guys... my VC02s just broke. I wanted to remove the cable to return the VC02 to its original polarity because wind noise was a problem with the vent facing up. However, when lightly pulling on the plug on the earphone end, the ENTIRE back housing of the Vc02 came out with it, exposing the...

NEWS: Meridian Releases The Explorer Pocket-Sized USB DAC

Just tried the VC02s out of the DACPort LX. Whilst it is in fact a line-out DAC, Centrance has gone on record (albeit on Headfonia) with comments about the LX being able to drive headphones due to the presence of the same headphone amp as the normal DACPort without the volume pot and a higher...

    VSONIC VC02 Thread

Has anyone managed to procure a replacement cable of any sort that will work with the VC02 at a reasonable price? Remember reading about something alone those lines earlier in the thread. The stock cable has way, way too much memory for me. There are already numerous kinks along the wire that...

Heading into the city today. What should I try?

The JVC portables, the HA-S500 and 400 come to mind, given the huge hype they are being given now. They look quite nice too.

Astrotec AM-800 a metal and wood IEM

:( My VC02s are still slightly less than a week old and here comes the potential new king of the <=50 buck price range. Design looks great, but less minimal than the VC02 and larger. Still it looks to be more substantial; I've had to baby my VC02s out of fear for their small size and...

Does anyone have experience with the Kef LS50?

Quote: This. Works well with NADs(even the entry-level ones), just a little bright at first. Once my ears adapted it was a love story through and through. I can only hope I clear all the miscellaneous speakers with enough takings to place the deposit for the LS50s before they run out of...

Touchy topic, this burn-in. Let's agree to disagree :P... Nevertheless, this does not detract from the fact that the VC02 is an impressive IEM both in SQ alone and as a package. Let's hope prominent reviewers like Joker and ClieOS pick this up soon... The microdriver worries me though...

Inks is correct. There are no changes at all, but deeep insertion gives you a moderately smooth and revealing sound. Stock biflanges work very well in this regard. BTW, how does one clean the filter and housings of the VC02 - by the normal way? Can the stock tips be washed?
