AKG K3003 High End 3 Way System Headphone
Well, after 6 weeks of anguish, my replacement K3003's should be here tomorrow. I can't wait to be back in the game! I will be relieved once I actually have them in hand, though. For some reason, they have my shipping address with the right zip code but the wrong city name. But UPS already...- RapidPulse

Whisky (or Whiskey) Fi
Well, if you insist. Just opened the bottle (of Caol Ila Moch) and am enjoying a dram right now. I don't want to draw any definitive conclusions yet as, in my experience, the first pour isn't always indicative of the rest of the bottle. But so far, I quite like this.- RapidPulse

I have an unopened bottle waiting for me...will probably break the seal this weekend. Sounds like a pretty good chance I am going to like it.- RapidPulse

I wonder if there is some variance. I have no issues with the spiral dots (using the large). They fit perfectly and have never once come off in my ears...and they sound pretty darn great.- RapidPulse

I agree. That is a bum rap. The K3003 has plenty of treble, no doubt. But harsh? nah. The K3003 does cymbals better than any IEM I have ever heard. Not sibilant either, when compared to something like a GR07. To have that fantastic treble with nice full bass and great mids is...- RapidPulse

I am hoping that some excitement will return once I finally get my Rockets (Blue TiN finish w/mic...still not shipping) I have been very patient throughout, knowing that the delays have resulted in a better product. But right now, I''m afraid my patience has pretty much turned into apathy...- RapidPulse

AKG K3003 High End 3 Way System Headphone
As you may remember from a few pages back, my K3003i's have developed an issue that I am trying to get repaired. I am covered under a SquareTrade warranty and they have been great. They have given me every indication that they will honor the warranty, so no worries there. I do have to provide...- RapidPulse

Theoretically, yes. I have a SquareTrade extended warranty. But this will be the first time I have had occasion to make a warranty claim with them, so not sure what to expect.- RapidPulse

AKG K3003 High End 3 Way System Headphone
Thanks! Hoping I won't have too much trouble. I am thinking now that the left dynamic driver did cut out completely and what I am hearing is just the bass from the BAs. That at least would make some sense to me. But surprisingly, I am still hearing some output at 40Hz in the left...- RapidPulse

AKG K3003 High End 3 Way System Headphone
Ok..the unthinkable has happened...and I don't even know how it is possible. I have had my K3003i's for about 11 months now. They are absolutely the best earphones I have ever heard. A couple of days ago, I started getting an occasional light popping noise while listening to Spotify. I...- RapidPulse

I know. The IE800 does the same kind of thing, when just a plain, simple case would do the job so much better. Guess they need to justify the price somehow. edit: just to be clear, I kid, because I love.- RapidPulse

I was responding to huggs2, who didn't seem to be using an app that did auto-switching. I actually use BitPerfect and Fidelia, which also change sample rates. Interested in Audirvana because of the new UI, but I have been using Spotify more and more and haven't been able to justify the...- RapidPulse

Generally speaking, you want to set the Audio Midi settings on your Mac to match the resolution of your source files (typically 44,100 unless you have Hi Rez files). Otherwise, you are using your mac to upsample before sending to the dac. That said, no harm in doing whatever sounds best to you...- RapidPulse

I know many DACs do this, including the vastly more expensive Chord Hugo. I am far from an expert, so take this with a grain of salt, but I think they up sample because it allows them to do whatever DSP magic they are doing without introducing additional noise to the signal.- RapidPulse

Funny that you say that...me too. There have been times that I have been close to selling an IEM (the IE800 comes to mind), only to have it sound fantastic the next day. I was thinking it maybe had to do with my choice of music for that day, but maybe we are more sensitive on some days vs others.- RapidPulse
