I just can't agree with this based on my experience. Going from a Magni to the A-100 or my vintage receiver was a massive jump, particularly in bass slam and texture of instruments. Magni felt like it was "straining". I experienced the same thing with Mad Dogs. Now my Denon D2000 did not benefit...

I use the a-100 with my HD650 and its awesome. Highly recommended. I also use a vintage pioneer receiver with them which sounds just as good, so if your Marantz is vintage it should be fine. Is it?

I've recently added this to the chain, mostly to get better volume control and leeway from the A-100. Don't know if it's improved the sound or not but it does sound amazing. Very pleased. Was about $30 from amazon...

Your dac must not put out much volume or voltage. I’m using this with a raspberry pi (volumio) and modi multibit and at full volume l can barely get to 8 on the dial. This is With HE-560.

I have the original A-100 without the headphone jack so I run speaker tap adapters and run my 560 right from the taps. I have a picture somewhere I can post later.

I use this with my Hifiman HE-560 and they sound amazing. Straight from the taps.

Friends, I have a bizarre problem: picking up a stray radio station through my receiver: Pioneer SX-880 Situation: When I use my HD650's plugged into the front of the 880, I can very clearly hear a radio station in the left channel. I can make out dialogue etc...it is 98.5 i am in the DC area...

Yep they sent me a brand new HD650 to replace my dead HD6xx. Looks like I will take the cable MD sends out and make it balanced for future use.

So I sent my 6XX to Sennheiser USA service dept in CT per their website instructions (right channel died after two days) and got a shipping notification from them a few days later. Looks like they are sending me a new HD650 as replacement. The shipment is coming from Wisconsin and should be here...

Initial impressions are WOW!!. Most noticeable improvement over original Modi is increased clarity and detail. Everything just sounds cleaner. Better soundstage, instrument separation. I wouldn't say bass impact is bigger or better but everything is tighter, transparent perhaps? Like the mimby...
