Audio-Gd Master 7 - Discrete Fully Balanced DAC (PCM1704)
After day of evaluation between the DACs(M7 vs YGG): With DSP V7 (PLLEN Jumper ON, 8X OS, -130db Stopband), I think my Master 7 has finally won over my Yggdrasil DAC overall: 1) (Speaker)Soundstage now has plenty of depth and 3D imaging, making it on par or better than Yggdrasil. 2)...- evillamer

Audio-Gd Master 7 - Discrete Fully Balanced DAC (PCM1704)
Master 7 with DSP v7 update makes it's performance on par with Yggdrasil and better in certain aspects like soundstage depth. The sound quality can be further improved(the smallest soft sound details is still not as good as ygg) but certainly it's not necessary for simple enjoyment on this...- evillamer

Vintage/Current R2R DAC Owners Discussion, Insight, and Review Thread
Most Modern PCM DACs employ 8 times oversampling(352.8KHz or 384KHz), so the pulse response will be better than the above chart.- evillamer

Schiit Yggdrasil Impressions thread
Having more bits at the DAC chip will allow more engineering headroom when it comes to the final analog output. You will always lose more SNR(bits) after the digital conversion section. Think of it as a 350bhp engine, do you get 350bhp at the wheels?(power loss at transmission and axle) ...- evillamer

Vintage/Current R2R DAC Owners Discussion, Insight, and Review Thread
To be fair, some well implemented sigma delta dacs can sound good(very difficult to detect the sigma delta harsh unless you try hard or have very resolving gear). And there are some badly implemented R2R dacs(murky or noisy sounding) as well(due to bad power supply, bad usb chipset or just...- evillamer

R2R vs S-D DAC's

Audio GD Master-11(Combination from Master 7 and Master 9)
@bimmer100 from your room photo, it seems your m11 is placed at the corner of the room, Maybe it's because hot air might get trapped there. Not that you can do anything about the placement, but there's so many factors that causes overheating. Maybe a USB laptop cooler might just do the trick...- evillamer

You also have to factor that Bimmer has modded his M11 with the 3m EMI asborber. Not sure if how much it would have affected the heat dissipation of the DSP chip in hot ambient temps.- evillamer

Audio GD Master-11(Combination from Master 7 and Master 9)
I think it's quite special case for bimmer100 as he runs a very inefficient set of headphone, thus drawing more power and generating more heat than most other M11 users will do with other headphones. Maybe the heat generated got so much that it caused the DSP or some other chip go into...- evillamer

Also if you want to get a even much blacker background out of your R2R. You need to pay closer attention to the power supply coming to your DAC, that is even if your dac already has very good built-in power filtering. There's several layers of power cleaning you can do but it all boils down to...- evillamer
