Hmm it seems strange that it works the correct way but not swapped      So at least it's not faulty in general

 I actually agree with that, I had an iPod touch 3rd gen at one point and thought it sounded great at first - But as time went on the bright neutral sound really started to annoy me, I wouldn't so much say it was metallic but it was edgy and harsh and with modern music which is mastered louder...

 What settings do you need to apply in Rockbox to make your clip sound like the Sony Dreamnine?       Since Rockbox alone won't change the sound you need EQ and Crossfade and stuff turned on from what I've seen to change the sound
