Which of these are the output caps?
I was thinking of bypassing or changing the output caps of the Elite Pro soundcard. Anyone have any idea which of those they are? I was thinking they are the four closest to the dac. Elite pro has three output channels with separate dacs, that's why there are so many of them...- maarek99

Question about X-Fi Elite Pro's opamps
The opamp for elite pro's outputs is the jrc2068. The opamp for rear and side outputs is jrc2114. I was just browsing through their specs and it seems that the 2114 actually seems to be a better opamp with lower thd and higher slew rate. Am I correct? http://www.njr.co.jp/pdf/ae/ae04022.pdf...- maarek99

RMAA for a cable
I did some cable testing a while back. The results were astonishing. I used my 0404 as the source. Loopback testing using rmaa 5.1 for measurements. Here's what I discovered: 1. Standard 0404 breakout + 5 meter radioshack ic. http://hmcindie.pp.fi/movies/rmaa/RM...rd%20cable.htm 2...- maarek99

Bad solder joint on a cap?
Hi all! I've done some modding on my emu 0404 soundcard (changed opamp to ad8066, removed buffers + bypassed output caps). Now I've changed all of the relevant analogue caps to sanyo oscons. Same voltage and capacitance, except a couple of the new ones are 15 uf instead of 10...- maarek99

Changing opamp in a soundcard
I'm about to switch the opamp on the emu 0404 soundcard from the jrc2068 to the ad8066. Are there any complications that I should know about (I have pretty minimal knowledge in anything diy or should it be pretty easy to swap? Just take the jrc out and the 8066 in.- maarek99

One simple cable test
I did a simple cable test with my modded emu 0404. Plugged in Headphiles standard copper cable and did an audio test with rightmark. And then I plugged in Qed Qunex 2 cables and did the same test. There was a difference with the Qunex 2 scoring better (as I expected, it did sound way more...- maarek99

Some emu 0404 modding gone haywire. Hi all. I've succesfully removed a trace from under one of the buffering opamps. Pin number 3. http://brian.osupages.com/audio/pict.../0404mods2.jpg I wonder where that trace connects, maybe I could solder directly there or make a jump wire? Any...- maarek99

Modding the Rega Ear / OPA627
I was thinking about getting some OPA627's to replace the Rega's opamps. I've read a lot of modding threads, but I still have a couple of questions: I was thinking of buying them from digikey, but there are several opa627's. Which one of them should I get? Are there any instructions on...- maarek99

A question about jitter
You guys are talking an awful lot about jitter here. If I just send a pcm signal then jitter can change it? How lame is this digital out thing if this is true? If any bits change during the transport then its not really digital I would say. We can send miles and miles of correct bits using...- maarek99

Emu 0404 quality?
How important is to get some decent interconnects for the emu 0404:s 1/4" connectors? At the moment I have some cheapo 1/4" radioshack switcher -> rca -> rega ear -> senn hd580. It sounds a bit too tinny and harsh. If I use digital out to my cheapo Kennwood receiver it sounds very good. More...- maarek99
