The opamp for elite pro's outputs is the jrc2068. The opamp for rear and side outputs is jrc2114. I was just browsing through their specs and it seems that the 2114 actually seems to be a better opamp with lower thd and higher slew rate. Am I correct?

I know nothing about those particualr amps themselves, but from the specs, it does seem that you are correct.

It is entirely posible that the jrc2068 simply has a more desirable sound.

Hmm.. I think it has to do with driving headphones. jrc2114 can't really do it, but the 2068 can to a degree.
