KMFDM Recording?
This is one of my favorite bands. We used to go to industrial clubs in Toronto and dance into the early morning. Try this from KMFDM: KMDFM vs. PIG Also a few others I like: Nitzer Ebb, Front Line Assembly, Skinny Puppy, Cure, Bauhaus, Alien Sex Fiend, Fields of the Nephilim ... -
Beyerdynamic DT 1990 PRO - Beyer's open-back mastering headphone
Nice. I was thinking the same thing. I will put a bit of felt as my first attempt. Agreed. This includes EQ.- ipm

Beyerdynamic DT 1990 PRO - Beyer's open-back mastering headphone
Good insight. I keep flip-flopping on the idea of getting a tube amp. That will wait for now. My next consideration is a better DAC.- ipm

Beyerdynamic DT 1990 PRO - Beyer's open-back mastering headphone
I think this is very true. Its important to know someone's listening preferences are and what is in the signal chain as well in making a comparison. In that respect, I am not a bright headphone fan in general. I prefer a slightly darker but detailed sound. This does not mean that I dislike a...- ipm

Beyerdynamic DT 1990 PRO - Beyer's open-back mastering headphone
From how I read this, you are saying that something that is farther away is less distinct and therefore is more difficult to identify as a specific instrument or sound source. Is this what you mean? I'm not sure relative to the specific music you listened to and the specific headphones you...- ipm

Beyerdynamic DT 1990 PRO - Beyer's open-back mastering headphone
I have a DT1990, HD650, HD600, K712 and a few other headphones and earphones. I listen to the DT1990 with the analytical pads, the pads with fewer holes in them. I have had the DT1990 for a few months and the HD650 for years. Overall, to my ears the DT1990 needs something like -3dB starting at...- ipm

Sennheiser HD820
It was indeed a surprise; however, images of the HD660S were available. I will wait for images of the HD820 or whatever it may be called, before I get my hopes up. It would be nice though. I hope the rumors are true.- ipm

It may be real. They did release the HD660S recently. Given that, they may wait for another release. We will see.- ipm

Klipsch High End Over Ear-your input appreciated
I have seen measurement of them on certain sites. I don't know if this is available here or not. Looking at measurements may help you figure out what the sound is like. Pretty much everything I have read says that they are quite good.- ipm

AKG K-712 Pro REVIEW
"These headphones are for recording studio producers / engineers and music lovers in general." I mean no offense or disrespect to you at all but I will disagree on the first part of this point completely. I have friends that run recording studios for a living. They shrugged off my K712...- ipm

AKG K-712 Pro REVIEW
I purchased the K712 in order to see if I could get a bit wider sound stage relative to my HD650 (with a Cardas cable modification) reference headphone. The K712 does indeed present a pleasant and wide sound stage but the sound signature requires EQ, in my opinion, in order to achieve a bit more...- ipm

New Shure SE215 - First Impressions
I just got a pair of SE215 delivered a few hours ago. For me they fit with the large foam tips. With this jammed into my ears, my initial impression is that the bass seems overstated compared to SE420, M40x, HD650, SP25-II. This is fairly dominating and is somewhat distracting for me right...- ipm

HD650 Bass Light?
For me the bass is fine. my friend who does recording engineering for a living listened to his reference/calibration music on my HD650 and found them a bit lacking in the lows and somewhat empty starting around 9000Hz. i looked the frequency response graph at headroom and it seemed to match my...- ipm

Klipsch Image S4?
i have the s4 image. its very comfortable. in my ears they do not isolate well enough compared to SE420. the s4 image well. i detect distortion at high levels not heard in the SE420. the SE420 seem a bit heavy handed base-wise in comparison but i prefer them due to overall clarity. get the s4...- ipm
