Does anyone have a link (aliexpress is fine) where I can buy a BLACK Vivo XPlay 6?

    CanJam @ RMAF 2017 (October 6-8, 2017) Impressions!

Thanks. Well the schtick with the HP50 is that it follows the Harman target curve so it's very 'on point'. I like that. I know that it's maybe 60% of the quality of any other open pair that I own but a FR that is 'right' goes a long way for me. Especially when going closed. Btw, I don't prefer...

    CanJam @ RMAF 2017 (October 6-8, 2017) Impressions!

What did you think of the NAD Viso HP70? Differences between the ANC of it and the PSB? I heard the PSB M4U1 awhile back and for me it was a prime example of a headphone that although technically decent, failed almost all over the board. Plasticky, unnatural sound with artificial soundstage...

Just recieved my first Phillips SHP9500s headphone and yes It destroys my HD 555/598 *Some Pics*

Use them for any broadcast of games/live shows (high quality format) and that 'SsS' will murder you in short, cutting bursts.   For music, it depends on what you're listening to. For some stuff it's bad, for others, like you said that artificial detail really works well (John Martyn, The Doors...

You people are beyond insane. The SHP9500 are sibilant. That is a huge flaw that puts them nowhere near any of the good 5xx Sennheiser's.   They might look good and have a decent build but let's slow down a bit, those artificial sibilant highs are not fooling anyone with a decent ear.

They have dedicated hardware for audio needs. As far as I know, the Honor does not.   I wouldn't trust review sites in general re: audio in smartphones. There are a very few that know what they're talking about. In general this aspect of a smartphone has been the least researched topic ever...

    Philips SHP9500 Discussion Thread

They don't really change actually. And generally they're not really affected that much by burn in.   The sibilance is still there, the soundstage is the same and the best part is they really show themselves in time as being very sturdy. Great build.

Audio Technica ATH-M40x: The Little Brother that Could

Brainwavz HM5 vs. Audio Technica M40x's? How do they compare sonically and which do you prefer if you've heard them?   Not interested in build and comfort for this comparison.   Thanks.

That's probably the 32GB version.   Has anyone bought this from AliExpress and shipped to Europe? How did it go?

[GUIDE] Sonic Differences Between DT770-DT990 Models & More

Yeah, I'm gonna settle for the HD600 at some point I think. (had it borrowed to me for a bit and I was impressed). But until then I wanna have some fun.   Another quick q: Is 100$ for a used (but in very good condition) DT990 Premium 32ohm a good deal or nah?

[GUIDE] Sonic Differences Between DT770-DT990 Models & More

Aggressive treble is to me one of the downfalls of a lot of cans (Grado included). But the problem is, you need good treble for higher quality music so it's a trade off a lot of times.   I disagree with you a bit, the Grado's do sound great with 80's, 90's well recorded metal music for...

[GUIDE] Sonic Differences Between DT770-DT990 Models & More

Much appreciated.   If you've never heard the Phillips, it sounds like a budget Sennheiser HD600, with a lot of similar traits but with some (neglect-able actually) flaws. Definitely a vast improvement in the soundstage and separation department compared to the aforementioned. the SHP9500...

[GUIDE] Sonic Differences Between DT770-DT990 Models & More

In need of some help with a comparison, guys.   How would you compare the Beyerdynamic Premium DT990 32Ohm against any of these: Phillips SHP9500, Grado Sr80e and Sennheiser 518.   What parts do they have in common? What's missing? Which set excels at what? etc...   Any opinions are...

I have the Xiaomi Mi Note. I doubt the regular Redmi Note can match the clarity and depth of the Mi Note, its main strengths.   But who knows, maybe the Note 3 is good enough with the onboard chip.

What would be the next clear improvement over the Xiaomi Piston 3?

Many thanks for the input.   How big is the difference for you? Percentage-wise? Any significant points worth mentioning about the sound signature?   I've read a lot of reviews and they seem to be overwhelmingly positive.

The big problem is that this is not the case in 90% of the places on Earth. Chinese phones are very hard to find except a few places. So they are priced accordingly (pretty high).   It's actually the big shame for us that care about sound. The good stuff is just not well distributed and...

What would be the next clear improvement over the Xiaomi Piston 3?

So let's say you have that pair of earphones. What would you buy if you wanted the next best thing over it, whilst keeping the sound signature (wide soundstage, clear, balanced) without breaking bank (not necessarily the same price but not high-end territory either).   Any suggestions? Doesn't...

Global stable. I'm gonna switch to the dev version as well.   It's funny how much the software implementation really dictates how a phone sounds. Now it sounds nothing special compared to how it did with the original version.

Anyone notice how the sound is worse with the Xiaomi Mi Note once you upgrade to MiUI 7.5 (the latest for the device). Less clearer, the sound is more compressed etc..

Wow, the ZTE Axon 7 REALLY is just 400$ or  euros depending on where you are. I'm surprised because similar products from ZTE in the past that had similar peformance and specs boasted a price that would definitely make your eyes water just by looking at them.   New best deal in town for you...

    Best Smartphone for audiophile

I agree 100% with you. Sometimes I am amazed at the depth and the separation with this phone, however sometimes it does feel like it lacks something (I'd call it a bit of punch).   I'm listening now to some older punk-ish 70's music and it absolutely SHINES with it, it really does sound...

Had the same problem. But it does use the HI-FI mode even in PowerAmp. One initial check that I did was load up the default music app at the same time with PowerAmp and that usually kicks in the hi-fi mode automatically (for all apps). I'm imagining it's a hardware thing. This has happened...

Alcatel Idol 4s is coming out and it has some hi-fi capabilities: http://www.devicespecifications.com/en/model/6cc939e8   The brand already produced some good sounding smartphones in the past so this is interesting.

Surprising, I would've expected to see Vibe X3 as well. V10 being a toss-up.   Not a fan of the Axon series?
