Dsavitsk/Beezar Torpedo Build Thread
I have finished the Torpedo build today. As said before I first measured the slightly mismatched 6J6 by looking at the output. Test setup was output switch set to high, 330 Ohm load resistance. As mentioned before, the DC voltage at C11/C12 was 128 V at the left, 144 V at the right channel...- ChrisX

Dsavitsk/Beezar Torpedo Build Thread
That was one pair of the kit indeed. Thanks for the offer but I plan to use the 6J6 only for initial setup and I'm going to switch to E90CC anyway, so the tubes are ok for me. Thanks for the idea about AC matching. I will try to match the best pair of my 5-pack of E90CC this way. I...- ChrisX

Dsavitsk/Beezar Torpedo Build Thread
I just finished assembling my Torpedo PCB. At first startup I have seen that the DC voltage at C11/C12 varies between 130 V at one channel and 145 V at the other channel. After exchanging the tubes the voltages followed with the tubes. Would this measurement be a good indicator for tube matching...- ChrisX

eXStata DIY Electrostatic Amp for Intermediate DIYers
I just matched the J-FETs for my sand build. Out of a batch of 60 I found 21 with an Idss > 10 mA and out of these I could gather three quads. So statistically the recommended 20 J-FETs for one quad should turn out, but I wouldn't be sure if always. My three quads have Idss values of...- ChrisX

My Boards arrived today. Great Work! Thanks Alex! Most of the parts are already here, but I won't have much time in the next weeks. I think I can start building in February, until then I should be able to get the remaining stuff.- ChrisX

After half a year lying naked on my bench waiting for an enclosure I finished my SOHA II today. Still to do is painting the top cover, what I will do in summer when I can spray outside (my wife will kill me if I try this in the kitchen, and rightly so ). And the potentiometer shaft has to be...- ChrisX

SOHA II Builders Thread
Alex, Thanks for your diagnosis. I checked the first plate of the tubes (Pin 1) and there are the expected 19 Volts. So it's really only that my tubes are mismatched. I have four of them so I will try the others and stick with the best ones. Seems I have "luck" with mismatched parts. The 7815...- ChrisX

SOHA II Builders Thread
I finished my SOHAII right now. Everything worked fine (besides I forgot to put the OP amps into the sockets before starting the setup) until the last step: Check TPL and TPR. One channel measures 13,8 V the other one 22,6 V, the measurements follows the tubes when swapping them. Since the tube...- ChrisX

SOHA II Builders Thread
Today I received the last parts to build my SOHA_II. The resistors and E12-diodes are already stuffed, the rest to follow soon. Now I have some schottky diodes at hand (MBR1100, 1 A 100V) and I think they could be a nice upgrade over the UF4004 for the +/- 15 V supply (D1P-D4P). Anyone...- ChrisX
