    The most overrated female vocalists

I don't get all the negative votes on Diana Krall. I can imagine that one could dismiss her on purely personal tastes grounds but really, objectively, she's jus great. And a great pianist as well. Have you at least had a chance to see her live?

That is so stupid to act this way. This thread even appears on Google if you look up her real name... Really not wise indeed.

Speaking of older-but-golden players, did any one of you have any experience with the Sony SCD-X501ES? (SONY SCDX501ES CD/SACD PLAYER - available from Superfi UK Visit http://www.superfi.co.uk/index.cfm/page/moreinfo.cfm/product_id/4872 for details) It seems to retail at around the same price...

Survey for audiophiles (and a chance to win 100 UK pounds)

I responded. This one is nice! There is a wide spread opinion that designing a truly great sounding component is more art than just science, and only a handful of visionary guru-like engineers can transcend from mechanical sound reproduction to a free flow of beauty and emotion. Do you...

Thanks for your impressions. So the technology behind CD players or DACs is generally not evolving fast enough to justify the price difference between newer and older models, rights? (on the assumption that product lines are renewed every, say, 3 years)

Ok, last try: Older but brand-new Marantz SA-7001 or all-new Onkyo C-S5VL? (which retail at the same price)

Sony still makes SACD players. One of them is allegedly one of the best out here (the something 5400ES).

Bump for your impressions. I guess the question could also read "Do you generally feel that paying that 30-50% extra for the latest CDP model is worth it". Cheers S.

So, it seems that most major CD player manufacturers renew their lines quite often, at least every 2-3 years. Do you generally feel that there is ANY real benefit in picking the last/newer model compared to the previous one at a good discount or would it be just paying for different design...

    <$150 closed circumaural for a bass-hater?

Another option would be a pair of Ultrasone HFI 5xx or 6xx in which you stuff a bit of cotton wool to reduce the bass impact (search "Kees mod" for more information).
