Is there a way to tell if CIEMs have been damaged electrically or mechanically while undergoing remolding?
So, I have a pair of W3s that I have remolded. They sound fine, but hard to tell whether they are any better than how they were prior to remolding. Can't remember that far back. I like the fit and comfort, however. I just received a pair of W4 on a trade and listening to them made me go WOW...- drssyoon

Update and such with my experience with InEarCustom
I noticed that the previous thread on InEarCustom is locked. I am posting this as an update to my experience (your experience may vary) that I want to share with the rest of the Head-Fi community. I had my W3s reshelled by InEarCustom earlier this year. There were delays, communication...- drssyoon

Opinions sought - replace out of warranty W3 from Westone or get them reshelled
My W3s have developed a connection problem near the plug - crackles, intermittent connection, etc. Since they are out of warranty Westone offered to replace them for $1xx. The cost, however, is more than getting them reshelled with new cable, I am wondering what the best option may be. Just want...- drssyoon

Converting earbuds to IEM-style - silicone cover/tips
There used to be a product that one could slip over earbuds like Apple buds and turn them into semi-IEM style phones. Does anyone recall what they were called and whether they are still available? I am wondering if I can do something similar to my B&O A8s as my ears are differently shaped and...- drssyoon

Lost UM2 + custom molds - should I try SE530?
Well, I have managed to misplace my beloved UM2 + custom molds (UM56) during my last transatlantic flight. So, in thinking about replacing them, I thought perhaps I should try the SE530. I selected UM2 after comparing it with E5s originally. It has been a while so I can't remember why. I...- drssyoon

iPod hard disk question
So, I ran into this - Transcend TS32GSSD25-M 32GB 2.5" IDE Solid State Disk (SSD) Transcend TS32GSSD25-M Will this work in an ipod? Since this is a solid state disk, will it improve durability and power consumption? Not bad for 32 GB of SSD.- drssyoon

Creative - Never again!
I haven't posted in a while, but I am so ticked off at Creative that I feel a need to vent. My son purchased a brand new Zen Vision:M late December. The thing dies in January - hard disk failure. I had excellent experience with Apple with their repair policy and was expecting something...- drssyoon

UM2 replacement wire
I just got back my UM2s from Westone after getting the dreaded green wire replaced. The wires do look similar to Ety 4 wires - black, shiny and similar gauge. They are also bit less flexible than the original silver wires. I was curious to see how they "replaced" the wires. It looks like they...- drssyoon

Custom moulds for IEMs
So, I just received a pair of custom moulds for my Westone UM2s. Although I was happy with the sound and the comfort of comply tips, I was looking for something better - as we all do. I went to a local audiologist and after an ear-enlightening experience (see one of my posts previously on ear...- drssyoon

How to "possibly" improve the sound of your IEMs
OK. For those of you that are squamish, do not read any further. I have gone through many different IEMs (E2, E3, Ety4P, E5) and finally settled on the UM2s. I have enjoyed the sound, but I felt that something was still missing. So, I bit the bullet and decided to get the custom molds ($100)...- drssyoon

Westone UM2
I feel like I need to comment about these phones - they are not very widely known compared to Etys or Shures, but I think they represent better value than both. I went through a range of IEMs - started with E2s, then to E3s, to Shure E5s, to Ety 4Ps then to Shure E5s for a while. Sold the...- drssyoon

A DAP question
How difficult would it be to build a box that will accept an external hard disk via USB (there are many external 2.5" drives available currently, or even 1" external drives) and output audio? Sort of "component" level compressed audio decoder. The device would have only the display, somekind of...- drssyoon

iHP and SRS/WOW - Does anyone use it? And how?
For the life of me, I cannot figure out how to get the SRS to sound acceptable. TruBass EQs up the bass (is that all?) and WOW seems to be a combination of the two, but they seem to have a lot of artifact on certain tracks. Kind of swirling phasing on higher freqs. Is there a magic secret to...- drssyoon

Non audiophile thoughts about E3s vs Ety 4P
I used to have E2s. When I saw E3s, I thought I'd upgrade. Despite trying all kinds of fits, plugs, never could get the kind of sound I wanted out of them. In fact, I did not like E3s as much as I did the E2s despite trying really tried. The sound was very fatigue-ing. Couldn't listen to them...- drssyoon
