The Fiio X5 Thread
Is there a brief review of the X5 firmware versions? I recall reading that some versions around 2.0 was had light bass for example, but I can not find this source. I am on the latest 2.7 version at the moment and I love the detail of the sound, but the bass is overpowering the vocals somewhat...- Ubijza

Looking for new portables
Hey, Sorry for late reply. I personally would recommend buying used from these very forums. I bought mine from some dutch girl here hehe, paid about 220 euro- should be cheaper still by now. Sleeves/tips - I was buying mine on ebay.com (the american version, not .co.uk) There were...- Ubijza

Looking for new portables
Hey there imod user!;) Just saw your thread and thought I'd chime in as I had a very memorable experience with a pair V shape sounding phones that really amazed me when listening to my favourite techno-trance act Infected Mushroom. I prefer flat SQ signature myself, so I ended up selling...- Ubijza

Is iMod still competitive with "audiophile" DAPs (only interested in SOUND QUALITY)?
Quote: From my research on the matter, I remember that 5-5.5G iMods sound better than 4G iMod, Vinnie Rossie of Red Wine Audio has stated that himself. 4G iPods are much easier to diyMod though. I have not heard the 4G Touch, but as I said in my previous post, all consumer players...- Ubijza

Is iMod still competitive with "audiophile" DAPs (only interested in SOUND QUALITY)?
I am a long term iMod user and actually it made me to all but stop reading portable audio threads, because I became content in knowledge that it is as good or very nearly as good as it can get at this time. You see, iMod is so much better than "all in one" consumer media players like iPod and...- Ubijza

Westone 4 Impressions and Reviews Thread
Gee, reading this with vivid memories of fitting (and consequently sound) problems with W3 that were completely solved with launch of traditionally ergonomically designed UM3X... Looks like the best move is to wait for UM4X now. Cant believe Westone learnt nothing with W3 regarding iffy fit!..- Ubijza

Are SM3 cheaper in Europe than US?
Topic. They are french made after all, so it would make sense... Ebay.co.uk sells them at prices way above US and I dont know of any *cheap* reliable headphone web sellers in Europe:(- Ubijza

Would iMod procedure be redundant if......
In my experience- yes, it is worth it, absolutely so. Think of it this way- imagine you burn a cd for playback on a high quality cd player+amp, but use a lossy file. Would you still hear the difference in resolution, dynamics compared to a sub-par portable mp3 player? OF COURSE you would...- Ubijza

Your Advice for my next DAP (SQ based)
Sorry, I somehow missed that your rig got stolen... Thats too bad In that case, the cheapest and most effective way would be Iriver 120/140 with upgraded hard drive (it takes up to 120gb) and then optical toslink into ibasso d10 to be used as a DAC and as an amp in one box. The two best...- Ubijza

Your Advice for my next DAP (SQ based)
iMODs have the best SQ around here diyMod your 5.5g Ipod, stick a big HD in it (240GB is proven to work) and enjoy your rig at a different level all over again without changing anything else. Search for imod and diymod on headfi.- Ubijza

ZUNE HD!
As I understand, once Zune HD is released that will the be the end for Iriver h120/140 Same optical out possibility, but from a modern player. Zune's low capacity (32gb) is the only thing that will prevent it from ruling the world no questions asked...- Ubijza
