Roll Call: Who's building, built, or thinking of building a beta22?
Thanks! Those are amazing. I like how everything matches perfectly. Quote: Originally Posted by swt61 Very nice quattro98! Here are a few pics of my own β22. It's a four channel, with dual σ22s in a separate enclosure. There were many hands involved with this...- quattro98

They're from ATI, who also supplied the chassis. Quote: Originally Posted by fishski13 quattro98, very sexy. where did you source the knobs?- quattro98

Roll Call: Who's building, built, or thinking of building a beta22?
I started this a few years ago & then was too busy to finish it. Recently, I decided it was time to get it completed. This is my first true DIY project (although I have plenty of experience soldering & using a multimeter). I'm excited by how well it turned out. The chassis is from ATI...- quattro98

A powered sub should take line-level inputs, the same as the amplifier for your main speakers, so the pre-amp outputs should be fine. Quote: Originally Posted by jtostenr Just wanted to clear something up w.r.t. loop-outs, preamp outs and subwoofers. I'd rather not have to hack my...- quattro98

Apple TV as music source
I've had one since they 1st came out. I'm using it as my main source for CD-quality music. I ripped all my CDs to an extra computer (with an external drive) in Apple lossless & I just set my Apple TV to stream the remote library instead of syncing files to the small internal drive. I'm using the...- quattro98

Enamel Copper
The easiest way to prep enameled wire is to use a solder pot. http://www.hmcelectronics.com/cgi-bi...uct/4200-0038/- quattro98

Basic electronics questions
You should have continuity between the positive & negative, if you don't that means the voice coil of the driver has burnt out. The music cutting in & out is likely a loose connection/bad solder joint. I'd just redo the joints.- quattro98

My new AKG K701!!!
I think you'll enjoy the K701s with the Gilmore Lite. I don't find the GL harsh or bright, but simply accurate. When compared with tube amps, many of which have large amounts of even-order harmonic distortion, a well designed solid-state amp will sound thinner, but that isn't a bad thing. In...- quattro98

Hook up wire for AC power - what size?
When dealing with the AC supply, you run quite a high risk of danger with inappropriate wiring. It's better to be safe with some overkill here. You can find 16 gauge stranded hookup wire at any Radio Shack or get a foot of extension cord wire from any hardware store/home improvement center.- quattro98
