That is correct. I currently have a headphone extension. That's cool with me. I was just wondering if I'm degrading the sound or something.

I would really love to get a cable for late night sessions that will run from my stereo to my couch with ease. 20' would do it. Are there any QUALITY cables on the market that won't subtract from the awesomeness of these headphones? I am not interested in making my own.

I did a big shoot out with all my stereo receivers. I preferred the Pioneer SX-850 and then the NAD C 740. The Marantz just sucked. I was disappointed. I have more money in the rebuild of this amplifier and I think it looks awesome. It's definitely not going to be used for this application.  ...

So what would you guys recommend for these headphones? It would have to be a definitely jump up in quality from my receivers and I'd like it to also be versatile enough to be used when I upgrade. My budget is no more than $300.

I use my PX100's for my portable setup and HD580's in my bedroom. I think HD 580's would be your best bet. There's nothing cheaper that sounds half as good.
