I have several headphones, but somehow the PX100 appeal to me the most, i simply like its sound sig the best even if its one of the cheaper ones. Thats a good thing really, but ts not all that confy for home use. Is there any larger cans that have the EXACT same sound as the px100?.

Technically, that would be the Grado RS-1

brookr1. Thats the best example of frequency graphs not telling the whole story I've seen yet. Nice.

I have px100 and hd580 and they are very very similar if you exclude the soundstage. The px100 has a little bit more punch so, I'm thinking the 650 could have a closer sound color

The RS1/PX100 graphs are certainly among the most bizarre things on headrooms site. Given the graphs, they should definitely have a similar sound yet they sound nothing alike in my opinion. Another good example is the DT880/K501 graphs which indicate that they should have a similar mid bass. In fact, the K501 has noticably less bass even in rock music that does not even have any deep bass (<40 Hz)

I have a hard time beliving i have to go as high as hd650 to duplicate the px100 - since the hd650 is about 10 times the price. How abou tthe HD4 and 5XX? series, anything from them that would do it?

hd580 costs 1800 NOK here, about 350 bucks. thats also a very big increase from the 250 NOK i paid for the px100, and not far from the 2300 NOK a hd650 costs

I've owned a pair of HD600's before (amped by a LaRocco PPAv1 with diamond buffers) and I'd still say my $70 Sony ECR-500's (which, btw, are over 30 years old) sound not only half as good, but better! Granted there was a nice source upgrade between my ownership of both sets of cans, I wouldn't say the Sony's are being driven to proper specs by any stretch.

Of course this is all a matter of preference, but I'd wager a few of the full sized cans I('ve) own(ed), and even some of my IEM's, offer a larger bang for the buck ratio than the HD580.

This is starting to be an interesting thread!!

Do you still want to upgrade your PX100 for a HD650 that " that have the EXACT same sound as the px100?" for 6X the price?
