The best discovery I made was installing the plugin SRS iwow, it just makes my headphones substantially better. The bass and clarity is unbelievable as long as you tune it correctly. Definitely worth the money.

I've never heard a pair of grados before, can anyone tell me how they compare to say a dt770 pro? Those are my current headphones and they're amazing but I wonder if grado was the better choice. My only problem was that they're open cans (as i recall) and I hear the bass isn't great.

Mine were first klipsh s4i earbuds (which sound great but break wayyy too easily) and then M-audio Q40's, which had great head-shaking bass, I loved them.

What about the 20,000 dollar Sennheiser Orpheus? Easily the most EXPENSIVE headphone, I'm not sure about the best but at that price they must be up there. 

although discontinued, the m-audio Q40's were great bass headphones. Slightly uncomfortable but beyerdynamic velour pads fixed that. I wound up switching to dt770's but I must say I do miss the bass. I think I'm gonna sell mine on here and pass them along to someone else.

They're both great headphones but the reason why I chose the 770's was because the comfort is unparalleled and to me it makes the music so much more immersive. Been using my 770's for a year now and they're only getting better. That being said you can't go wrong with either
