I use my Custom-1s for this and they do fine. Isolation is good if you don't want to hear the machines and I don't have to turn it up anymore than normal. The cord has a cinch on it so you can pull it tight. This cuts out microphonics and means you don't have to worry about it swaying around...

The Klipschs are balanced armatures as well, but I'm sure you knew that. Compared to the iM716s I would say the Custom-1s have less brightness in their treble, warmer mids and much more full bass. While I don't believe in burn-in for IEMs, the Custom-1s did take a while for me to adjust to, so...

Not to complicate things but the Klipsch Cutom-1 seems like it might be a good compromise. The bi-flange tips go fairly deep, but not as deep as the iM716s and are much more comfortable, but they still isolate well, and sound pretty good, maybe a little better than the UM1s from what I've heard...
