Post Your Dorm Setups
You know, I have that same printer. What Grados are those? If they're 60s I have them as well. (guessing they aren't)- Jon118

Klipsch & work-outs
I use my Custom-1s for this and they do fine. Isolation is good if you don't want to hear the machines and I don't have to turn it up anymore than normal. The cord has a cinch on it so you can pull it tight. This cuts out microphonics and means you don't have to worry about it swaying around...- Jon118

owners, please compare im716 to any of these dynamic earphones
The Klipschs are balanced armatures as well, but I'm sure you knew that. Compared to the iM716s I would say the Custom-1s have less brightness in their treble, warmer mids and much more full bass. While I don't believe in burn-in for IEMs, the Custom-1s did take a while for me to adjust to, so...- Jon118

Guitar Tutorials?
I just read tabs and playback sometimes. I have a book on theory based around guitar which extremely good and would be more helpful to a lot of people, but when I do something that's my own I just kind of make it up as I go, I'm not too concerned with what I'm doing so long as it sounds good.- Jon118

Headphone Reviews and the Party Pooper Dilemma
I said pass, not because I don't want to be a party pooper so to speak, but because there is usually no point in arguing with the people who are raving about it and it's just going to be futile anyway since a new one is going to pop up the second the old one dies. Some of them may genuinely...- Jon118

Yamaha trying to get back into Hi-Fi
I still have a Yamaha receiver, it pairs pretty nicely with my Advents. Really neutral setup, only slightly warm. Great for just about anything. -
FS Forum Practices that Annoy Me
When I say interest check, I actually mean it. Usually it's something I'm hesitant to sell so I want to see if there are a lot of people who would want it, and if so then I'll put it up for sale. I believe I've only done one interest check and I ended up not selling. I eventually did sell...- Jon118

Do people who buy expensive gear value music more then others?
No correlation. It almost seems to be opposite sometimes, a lot of people here seem to like to listen to their gear more than the music. Of course that isn't everyone, but there is a lot more to appreciate about music than the reproduction.- Jon118

Need a hand
Skullcandy's are pretty poorly reviewed around here. Most people would say to avoid them.- Jon118

UE super.fi 4 or V-moda Vibes
Vibes don't stick out at all for something that goes straight in like that. Westones and Klipschs are probably the only universals that stick out less. Between the two, most people will probably recommend the UEs, since the mid-run generation Vibes were apparently pretty bad. I liked my early...- Jon118

Wooden headphone advice
You might want to look at some Darth Beyers from Headphile. There's a link in the sponsors tab. They'll be much more unique than the others but from the way they've been described I'm not sure how they'll do for what you listen to. I'm sure some Darth owners will be glad to chime in. The wait...- Jon118

im716 vs um1 vs se110
Not to complicate things but the Klipsch Cutom-1 seems like it might be a good compromise. The bi-flange tips go fairly deep, but not as deep as the iM716s and are much more comfortable, but they still isolate well, and sound pretty good, maybe a little better than the UM1s from what I've heard...- Jon118

Guess what's this?
He just said it was $85 USD. That isn't much actually. After the initial headphones that is. I'm sure it would be more for someone who isn't in that area what with shipping and everything.- Jon118
