    Headphones for Down-Tempo/Sludge/Hypnotic/Progressive ~300

I know its your thread Outro, but I posted in here that I was getting the 601s. They should be here today and I will post my impressions when I get them. Only comparisons will be with my Triple.fi 10s and house speakers, 683s.

    Headphones for Down-Tempo/Sludge/Hypnotic/Progressive ~300

Well I did it - the K601s are on there way. InFn-0's comments really put me over the edge. I will report back when I get them, but all I will be able to compare them with are IEMs. This will sound really crazy but I think I have spent close to $500 on phones this month. Now the proud owner of...

Yeah, but the 601s are <$200 while the HD600s are just over $300.

I have my eyes on some k601s myself (similar musical tastes save for the techno and also using a receiver for the most part.) The only thing holding me back fear that I would want the 70x at a later point and both are under $300. Looking forward to the advice you get.

    K702 - Damn.

Sounds like you would be great to ask this question. I am inches away from ordering a set of cans and can't decide between the k70x or the k601. Listening mostly to metal/rock/classic rock. Some other stuff thrown in. Love detail and am not a "basshead", but a touch sibilance averse...

    Help with buying headphones (300 €) (rock/metal)

Let's say he (or I for that matter) don't go with the Grados, and went with a much harder drive phone like an AKG or equivalent. Wouldn't a home theater receiver be enough to drive them? (thanks for the clarifictaion.)

    Help with buying headphones (300 €) (rock/metal)

The 225 are supposedly very nice while the 325 is supposedly somewhat harsh. I too am looking for some rock headphones in roughly the same price range and am considering the same phones, d2000, 225i, and am currently leaning towards the AKG K601. I have heard the Ultrasones are very treble...

Everything I've read is that the k701/2 is not great for rock which is my main focus. But I am very interested in the k601 - they just seem to be right up my alley. Also, everthing I've read about Ultrasone's is that they are somewhat sibilant, which is a non-starter for me. Have you...
