Sony historians: E472 in gunmetal metallic?

Haha, you must be the buyer on Shpock in the UK; I recently decided to sell mine and after some Google mining, was super surprised to find another set had recently sold. Congratulations; you got a really nice set...and with retail packaging! Previously, the only other reference to the...

Sony historians: E472 in gunmetal metallic?

Curious if any Sony guru and/or superfan knows which version of the E472 I have. Perhaps a home market-only edition? All the photos that come up with a Google search show the E472 in a black plastic with grey tip at the bottom port. As in the title, mine are finished in a gunmetal metallic...

Review: Meizu EP-40 - a very solid entry level IEM for under $50

I see, thanks for the clarification.  The MX Quad's audio hardware should be the same as the current MX, which uses the Wolfson 8958 "audio hub".  The only testing I'm aware of was in the review by GSMarena here:   http://www.gsmarena.com/meizu_mx-review-696p5.php   using the (rough 'n...

Review: Meizu EP-40 - a very solid entry level IEM for under $50

Yes, Meizu has a network of, in essence, franchised stores throughout China with multiple locations in the big cities.  There's now a store in Hong Kong as well.    You're also right about the EP-40: it's Meizu's first attempt at a more premium IEM.  I don't know if Meizu manufactures their...

Review: Meizu EP-40 - a very solid entry level IEM for under $50

No, the EP-40 is not bundled with the MX.  The MX package is (attractive, but) bare-bones: phone, USB cable, micro SIM template and paperwork.    Whatever the verdict on these, one point in the article is indisputable: they're constanly sold out on Meizu's website.

    [Impression] FiiO E10

Quote: If you happen to be in China and buy from Fiio's storefront, it makes things a bit easier (aside from the language barrier ).

    [Impression] FiiO E10

Sorry if this beating the proverbial dead horse, but the socket on my E10 (rev. 1.5 with on-bass-off) is solid at the ring on the faceplate, but inside, the spring/clip thing allows whatever 3.5mm I try plugging in to easily wiggle in all directions.   So basically when the headphones are...

First news of the Teclast T59 HiFi Player

This is a really interesting thread...8 pages of speculation.  It's true that in the last week or two, there's been several "leaks" (read: company PR) to sites like imp3 and ZOL, which typically means a product will be officially announced soon.  The more frequent the "leaks", the sooner the...

Colorfly CK4, finally some competition for the HifiMan 60X ?

The UI is plain jane Rockchip, for sure.     Quote:   Not at all, except when a company disguises off-the-shelf components to add some sort of "high end" cache to their product.  For example, I have trouble believing that Colorfly and Rockchip "codesigned" (as you say) the...

Colorfly CK4, finally some competition for the HifiMan 60X ?

Quote:   Looks exactly like a Rockchip to me...a low-res, out-of-the-box UI from the RK2806 or possibly RK2728.  Makes other RK-based players look like iPods or Cowons.

The FiiO X3 Thread UPDATE: Project Back On! Read the First Post for Information.

Ugh, thank goodness it's not going to be another SigmaTel or Rockchip player.  The 3770 has its place, for sure, and I'm still waiting for a Chinese DAP company to come out with the "killer app" (C30, et al. was pretty close) with this chip...but for now it's the domain of either $20 players or...

E11, a new start of FiiO's portable amp ( added some real photo )

Yes, Head-fi is currently being blocked in China, and not just in Guangdong where I assume James is posting from.  Not sure if they're just momentarily fiddling with the switches or if it's a longer term prospect.   All this Fiio-mania is great news, but I'd like to know if any of these...

New Portable Player "DP_I" from Little Dot

Quote:   Neither has the E9 on Fiio's China site.   In Little Dot's case, probably because a DAP priced around 2500 RMB --and that's an estimate by subtracting a generous $100 from that eBay listing-- would be considered by very, very few.  A Teclast T51 (s:flo2) is around 700 RMB...
