Lenovo's revamp of their ThinkPad line last summer was great, but I'm hoping that they'll release a larger version of the X61t, possibly to be called the X500t? Lenovo will also probably update their ThinkPad line again in Q3. Laptop-equivalent of GTX260/280? And definitely i7 for laptops...

AudioCubes (aka AC Gears) doesn't have many headphones in the store. Some Audio Technicas (Ax00, ADx00, and others), lower-end Grado.. You can check out Guitar Center. B&H has lots of headphones online, but I'm not sure if they have them in store.

Recording engineer is a really interesting job, but doesn't pay much. You could also become an electronics engineer and design headphones/amps, but I don't think it's a highly demanded job (designing headphones/amps, I mean).
