Nice report! Glad you're enjoying the P2. Yes, battery life isn't its strong suit. This is acceptable to me though, given the calibre of the DAC and Amp combo. AKM's flagship hi-fi DAC is in this thing, after all.

MrSpeakers ETHER Flow and ETHER C Flow -- Inspired by Electrostatic Headphones

It was a joke. Apparently not an obvious one. Tyll's a legend but I don't understand where he's coming from with a claim that the AFO is a better headphone. Better value, perhaps. But's it's inferior to the EFO in every respect, to varying degrees.

The interior of Tyll's RV looks very cool, but I'm concerned he's been applying solvents without sufficient ventilation. That's the only explanation I can think of for his comparisons of the EFO and AFO.

If you want to replicate the sound of your P1, the PS will be your safest choice, since it uses the same DAC. Check Hi-Fier's excellent review, which includes comparisons with the P1: https://www.head-fi.org/showcase/cowon-plenue-2.22395/reviews That said, there's no reason to fear the P2 being...

MrSpeakers ETHER Flow and ETHER C Flow -- Inspired by Electrostatic Headphones

After 150 hours burn-in (without listening), I can confirm two things: burn-in is real and the bass on the EFO is astonishing. It's rich, textured and absolutely bottomless. I was planning on relaxing with a Bill Evans album or two, but instead just found myself listening to two hours of trance...

Awesome! I've just been listening to my Ethers and they're a joy with the P2. It's really revealed the deficiencies of the mobile SABRE implementation on the G6, which sounds flat by comparison.

eglobalcentral.co.uk, with a discount code. I can't answer about the AKG. I auditioned the Elear, Clear, LCD-X and Ether Flow with the P2 this week, and it drove all four headphones with ease. I ended up buying the Ether Flow, which I thought blew away the other three.

    Focal Clear headphones

Obviously the comparison is a natural one to make, and it was a key part of my (fairly extensive) listening session today. Having heard them, I'd definitely concur with Jason though. Colour me sceptical regarding the early reviews of the Clear that characterise them as an evolution of the...

MrSpeakers ETHER Flow and ETHER C Flow -- Inspired by Electrostatic Headphones

Based on the Utopia's noted brightness and lack of low end, I don't doubt it. I didn't want to audition the Utopia or LCD-4 because I didn't have the time to try cans I couldn't afford. But like you suggest, I suspect I would have still chosen the Ethers. I was shocked at how dynamic they were...

MrSpeakers ETHER Flow and ETHER C Flow -- Inspired by Electrostatic Headphones

Today I visited Audio Sanctuary in New Malden (Greater London) to audition the Elear, Clear, LCD-X and Ether Flow Open. They have every TOTL headphone you can imagine on demo, in a quiet and relaxing listening environment. Somehow I resisted the urge to mess about with the Utopia sat just feet...

    Focal Clear headphones

After the online research phase, the Clear was the headphone I wanted to like the most. The real-life testing phase proved they weren't the headphone for me. I listen to jazz and EDM. I daresay classical music lovers will thoroughly appreciate the Clear, which was most certainly more, er, clear...

    Focal Clear headphones

I auditioned the Clear today, along with the Elear, LCD-X and Ether Flow. The Clear are the most beautiful, comfortable headphone I've ever used. But compared to the other three, I found them somewhat flat and distant. They lacked the dynamism of the Elear, which I found incredibly engaging...

Just ordered the P2 for £795 (about $1,050). The thing that swung it over the P1 was the much-improved headphone amp, which delivers more current at low impedance. Some interesting reading about the "upgraded SoundPlus amplifier" used in the P2: http://www.ti.com/product/OPA1622...

    Cowon Plenue P1

You've got the volume at 67/140. Why do you feel you need more power?
