On this episode of Head-Fi TV, we'll be taking a look at some pretty big news in the world of Head-Fi, ESPECIALLY if you're an electrostatic headphone enthusiast. Today, Stax Japan is going to unveil their Stax SRM-T8000 Vacuum Tube Input, Driver Unit For Earspeakers -- a hybrid tube/solid state electrostatic amp which is the first true flagship electrostatic headphone amplifier from STAX since 1994.

This is getting exciting! I'm particularly curious. In Japan, there aren't much options aside from Stax amps. Buying BHSEs, Electras, KGSSHvs, are all buying blind.

Wow, priced 595,000 yen.

Totally to be expected. It gets even more expensive for regional dealer MSRP pricing for sure, similar to 009 from Japan vs states. Pricing could jump 25% which makes it around $6500-$7300 or so from my speculation....which is on par with headamp BHSE. How will it compare ? Exciting!

Wonderful news. This should be a great amp to duke it out with the KGSSHV Carbon.

5000 € in Japan would be 6-7 k€ ine Europe. Outch !
2 x 6922 pre amp (same tube as Vali2), SS power stage, fat toroidal transformer (regulated ?)...more to come obviously.

It uses the same tube as the vali 2? isn't that a $169 amp... lol you think for almost 6 grand they would have better tubes...

There are a bunch of different 6922 tubes. the 6922 is just a type of tube, not a model so yes the tube uses the same socket as the Vali 2 but it isn't necessarily the exact same model of tube in the Vali 2.
