I was wowed by the good review, too, but really didn't like them when I got them.

Very dry sounding. Analytical and didn't stir the emotions at all. Listening to music through them brought me no joy. I don't even touch them now, let alone listen to them.

For a killer affordable can, I prefer the JVC HA-S400 by far. Fantastic bargain at around $26.

Still, for the price it may be worth giving the Tascam a try. I got mine for twice that price. Worth a shot, especially if you split the deal with someone.

Interesting...very tempting.

Here's a quick write-up including measurements:

This is a bit off-topic, but does anyone know of good deals on Verizon or unlocked Android smartphones right now? New or gently used. I just broke my HTC Droid DNA... :frowning2:

Moto G on Verizon is $99. One heck of a phone and from what I've read online it's possible to activate it with a postpaid account. $99 is the standard price but it was an impressive device at $199 on T-Mobile so paying half of that on Verizon? It's a steal.

Not sure if good deal or not http://www.amazon.com/Pioneer-SP-BS21-LR-80-Watts-2-Way-Speakers/dp/B004MEWZE4/ref=cm_cd_ql_qh_dp_t but they look like a good deal.  I am so tempted but don't have the other equipment needed to set them up.

I agree. That's a great deal. The Lepai LP-2020A+ is good for powering them for a budget setup. See this discussion thread about using the Lepai with budget speakers: http://www.head-fi.org/t/627161/my-very-low-budget-nearfield-desktop-rig-lepai-amp-and-dayton-audio-speakers
