You should also try Symfonium, plays perfectly without gaps and it more fun than neutron or poweramp. Works great with the M3 and you can play local library (sd card) or connect to jellyfin or plex server. Better with jellyfin that also synchronizes playlist in the server. It's the only app I use now besides amazon music.

Hi. A question that I cannot seem to find the answer to. Will the M3 Ultra play Amazon Music HD bit-perfect? I know that there is an issue with Android phones downsampling. Thank you in advance.
Yes, it does. The AGLO platform bypasses Android's built-in sample rate conversion, even in third-party applications like symfonium, neutron, poweramp etc. Symfonium is my favorite. It also plays amazon music and other streaming services 24/192 or 24/96 without resampling

I was looking for a small easily portable DAP to use only with IEM when out for a walk or on upcoming long haul flights and occasionally as transport into a DAC/Amp on my desk.
I looked at the A&K SR35 but I came to the conclusion that on paper the M3 Ultra with its more conventional Android system seemed like a better fit for me since I only stream and use offline content from the streaming services.
Worked out nicely that the M3 Ultra was half the price of the A&K and HiFiGo happened to have a sale on it when I ordered saving even more. Ordered an SD card with it just to extend the memory for offline content from Apple Music and/or Tidal and a case from Amazon because HiFiGo were out.
Looking forward to trying a Shanling DAP, I have had good experiences with their ME700 IEM and UP5 bluetooth dongle.
Quick question ...... to update the firmware and avoid the slow Shanling servers can I plug the M3 Ultra into my Windows 11 PC and transfer the downloaded update file or do I have to download the update to the M3 then install it from the DAP memory directly ?
Perhaps I can download the update file to a USB flash drive on my PC and install the update from USB stick into an OTG cable plugged into the USB-C port of the DAP ?

You can download it on any device and then just copy it to the player/card.
I would not recommend running update from a USB drive, because I personally have very little trust in the way Android deals with USB drives.
if you are already copying file from computer to some other device, just copy it directly to the player.

You should also get M0 pro, it sounds amazing and it's tiny. M3 ultra is a bit thick and heavy. I have both M3 ultra M0 pro, very happy with both but I use them for different things
I did look at the 0 and the 1 but I stream and download from the streaming site only so I need Tidal and Apple Music compatibility.

Seems like a feature that would be handy for many in a desktop scenario feed another DAC/amp at least.
I use it all the time on my FiiO M11 Plus.
