Just recently joined the club with E1.1 :3 Dig it!
Has anyone tried the Ether C pads and if yes, what difference does it make?
Thanks
I thought you were in the HE1000 camp? Well this is the right place to be.

Ether:
*mids have wonderful tone and are very convincing
*overall spectrum is pretty even
*very open sounding, with good air around instruments and voices, good positional cues and transient response
*slight bump in the mid-bass, gives it a nice musical/slightly warmer presentation
*comfort king, weighs a little less than EC
*great for acoustic, jazz, folk, singer-songwriter and to a large degree classical
*very easy to drive even from a DAP
*doesn't clamp much but rather just "floats" on your head
Ether C:
*mild "u" shape signature somewhat ameliorated with 1.1 upgrade, but still more bass and treble than Ether
*very open sound staging, best that I've heard from a closed headphone
*good sub bass response and some sparkle on the treble
*angled pads lend themselves to better clamp and fit for me
*a little harder to drive than Ether (3-4 db) but still fine from a good DAP like qp1r
*best genres are electronic, pop, modern music
*incredibly comfortable but slightly less so than Ether
Both of these headphones have appreciable scale from better gear, both the amp and the DAC. If you own either of these (or both) but have never heard them from a world class amp/dac (yggy/liquid gold) prepare to be shocked and subsequently addicted to the sound of the Ethers.
I just placed an order for the ether. I currently have the audeze lcd-3 I am planning to keep 1 of the 2 headphones. I really love the lcd3, however, I was never totally satisfied with the treble. I know the ether dethroned the lcd3 from the innerfidelity wall of fame. Let's see if that will be the case with my lcd3. I am a little confused because some people call the ether warm, other people call it neutral and other people call it bright. I have never auditioned the ether. I am almost certain I will love its treble, but I don't know if coming from the lcd3, I'll miss the wonderful mids and bass of the audeze.
Get the LCD4, problem solved. XD
Or both and a free Cav liquid carbon.
8^p
I have fallen in love with the felt Mods for my Ether. The Angled pads suit the sound and my head perfect. The sound has such an even feel not warm or cold to my ears just detail and more accurate sound. Having a coloured headphone to me is a little like a bass or treble boost button.
We like chocolate and strawberry...
But I like vanilla to bring out what the musicians and sound engineers have done.
The Ether can be shaped by Dan's mods and others, so you can add some dark chocolate if that's what you like.
I am hungry and shouldn't post food analogies.... Ether..Wafer you decide..
Has anyone had the chance to listen to the Ether's on a DNA Stratus? Could be a great combo.
FWIW, I use mine with the DNA Sonett 2 and it sounds better than the HD 800 did on it (and I loved the way the HD 800 sounded) Ridiculously resolving, smooth and musical. Would love to try the Stratus one day.
If anyone could compare the open Ether with standard vs Ether C pads, that would be amazing. And appreciated
Yeah, that's something I'm interested in as well.
What about even other brand pads? I've heard of people putting on Audeze or HifiMan pads for comfort/sound.
