THE best female vocals? (your favorite female singers)

Although her name's been mentioned, it's a crime that no videos have yet been posted of Jane Monheit:

(Diana Krall's version of Joni Mitchell's 'A Case of You' is also worth hearing)

(the album version I have of this track is much more stripped-down (and consequently better/more intimate) than this):

(this track, 'If', has now been muted by Youtube, but the album from which it derives - 'Come Dream With Me' is well worth buying)

Unfortunately, Eline Chiara shamelessly rips-off Jane Monheit's interpretation of Bread's 'If', but she can be forgiven on account of the fact that she sings it just as beautifully as Monheit:

This is straying a little outside the general ethos of this thread, but I reckon these ladies deserve some recognition for their renditions of the classic Pink Floyd track 'The Great Gig in The Sky'. (some of these singers are worth seeking-out, in their own right)

Clare Torry (original singer on The Dark Side of The Moon album version):

Sam Brown:

Rachel Fury:

Ola Bieńkowska:

Bianca Antoinette:

Lorelei & Durga McBroom:

Angela Cervantes:

Rosalee O'Connell:

Lilian Ximenes:

I was fortunate enough to hear Ola Bieńkowska perform this with Brit Floyd, in Cardiff, a couple of years ago. Absolutely stunning...

(French)        Cœur de Pirate:

Stylistically different, but still... Zaz may be worth checking out:

Even though I'm from the same city (Montréal) as her I'm by no means a Céline Dion fan. I'm more into Billie, Ella, Nina, etc. Actually I cringe at most of her stuff. But listen at around 1:50 of this video to get an idea what that voice could do if it were singing rock or jazz. Too bad.

On the other hand, young (20 years old)  R&B/jazz singer, Nikki Yanofsky also from Montréal who's being ''mentored'' ($$$!!!) by Quincy Jones shows more promise (albeit commercial)
