Audeze LCD-2 Orthos
Quote: Dear goodness this thread moves quickly! In the link above I was comparing stax to the rev 1. I was actually quite happy to have discovered a phone that does so well with mainstream recordings. It ensures I can get the most music out of all my CDs. Modest Mouse stuff in...- wower

Audeze LCD-2 Orthos
Quote: Here are my thoughts after ownership of both STAX and LCD2 after many months: http://www.head-fi.org/t/453116/audeze-lcd-2-orthos/15510#post_7633720 Ultimately, in my opinion, in my house, the STAX system is special enough to make this a 2-system house. It's...- wower

Logitech's Squeezebox Touch - opinions sought on quality
'iTunes v mediamonkey etc' flame war eh? I love how segmented head-fi is - I've spent most my time in the big LCD2 and Stax thread - in a good way! There is a impressive depth of knowledge settled in all sub-forums. I guess that's why I've stayed around so long.- wower

Logitech's Squeezebox Touch - opinions sought on quality
Ah. So it uses the itunes library but not the itunes player to control? Or only with a logitech plugin? Interesting. I'm not surprised - I'm a bit ashamed of myself actually - that other's are using fancy 3rd party players to stream to the SB. This is my 3rd system, just for fun. But maybe it is...- wower

Audeze LCD-2 Orthos
Wow. This thread updates so quickly in days. Nice to see some LCD2 rev1 versus rev2 comparisons. (Thanks all btw.) The theories perposed for the change sound reasonable and I think I'll stay happy with my rev1 partnered with my house's STAX system for when I'm craving more soundstage/openess etc.- wower

Logitech's Squeezebox Touch - opinions sought on quality
I searched this thread for "iTunes" compatiblity with the SB and there were no posts. :O Assuming someone else has the same questions: Does the SB intergrate with itunes nicely? Or does it read one's itunes library directly? If it can stream youtube from my laptop's chrome it might be very...- wower

Squeezebox directly into amp.
I didn't get any responses (in 24h) from the stereo forum so am posting here. Does anyone have any experience with plugging the logitec squeezebox directly into an amp? Basically using it as a pre-amp? I know it's going to lack some functionality and lose some quality but it might be a...- wower

Audiophile Frank Sinatra suggestions
I put the 3CD Capital Years and the Collector Series disk on my Amazon wish list. We'll see which one I pick when I go to the pull the trigger. I wish I knew more about Japanese remasters when I lived there. I might have discovered some great finds. -
Logitec Sqeezebox as pre-amp? upgrade path questions
I have found a couple of good local deals on speaker amps and was just wondering how functionality good the Logictec Squeezebox Touch is if used as a source and pre-amp (directly into to the amp)? Will there be gain issues? I can accept some sonic draw backs in the short term if it works...- wower

Audeze LCD-2 Orthos
I'll admit the LCD2s are pretty heavy phones, but I sit in a normal chair with the LCD2 while reading (for long periods) and have NEVER experieced the reported neck pain with them. That I find their overall weight annoying and uncomfortable is about as far as I can push it.- wower

Amp recommendations for Audeze LCD-2
What are the SS options for the LCD2 in the $750~1k zone? Though I'll admit I'm still lusting after the Decware Mini Torii.- wower

Audeze LCD-2 Orthos
Thanks. It was fun writting it. It bares mentioning I also perfer pretty much all Radiohead and disks like Sharon Jones and the Dap-kings' 100 Days 100 Nights and the late Amy Winehouse's Back to Back exclusively out of my LCD2 - even though one could infer the air of the SR507s would play to...- wower

Audeze LCD-2 Orthos
LCD2 versus STAX SR507 The LCD2 is remarkably good at handling only so-so produced pop and rock records, here I recall for example Modest Mouse's lo-fi stuff. I normally describe the LCD2's bass to others as akin to having a subwoofer in one's head. Bass lines in reggae and hiphop...- wower

Audeze LCD-2 Orthos
I just thought I'd just add I've had the LCD2, mark2 with the angled cable inputs (which I guess on here is called rev2?), with nary a problem or hiccup since the day I received them in late fall 2010. I'm very sorry to hear about the problems with some later shipments. It sounds generally...- wower

Thanks for the detailed info. Read every word of it and liked it as you can see. I guess my one questions is how you like mono verses stereo mixes on our fancy headphone rigs? How do you feel toward the mono mixes just out of curiosity? -
Out on a limb for Rach's Symphonic Dances
I was away camping last week and was happy to check this thread again and see some suggestions. Amazon.ca has a couple of these and my STAX rig longs for a some good symphonic tracks. Thank you so much for the suggestions. -
Out on a limb for Rach's Symphonic Dances
I heard a couple of pieces from Rachmaninoff's Symphonic Dances played on CBC Radio 2 and was motivated to think, I want to hear this in all its hi-fi glory. I've sort of familiarized myself with some of the main editions but would never shell out the money without also asking for head-fi's... -

Audiophile Frank Sinatra suggestions
After hearing a couple of reviewers rave about the supremacy of Frank Sinatra's vocal style, I thought it was about time I investigate this legend.
